I Lost Over a 100 Lbs & Extended My Life by Decades

By: Success Stories

How I Became Obese & Sick

I was a Christian Recording Artist traveling the world performing hundreds of concerts each year.  While touring over 220 days each year I developed poor eating habits but they never seemed to be a big deal because I was so active. When my traveling days came to an end I became a sales manager and real estate broker and your average family guy. As a couple years went by I ate to feel good or when I was board or because I missed my old traveling life and before I knew it I became obese and sick.

At 29 years of age I began taking cholesterol medicine and shortly after I was prescribed blood pressure medicine.  Soon it was two different blood pressure medicines followed by multiple dosage increases just to try and keep my blood pressure and cholesterol under control.  In July of 2013 I found myself taking high dosages of 3 medications daily and weighing in at over 333 pounds with my life and health heading in the wrong direction fast! Size 48 pants and 5XL shirts are not easy to come by and it ALL disgusted me!

Both of my grandfathers past away in their 60’s of heart attacks and my father who has been in shape his whole life due to a very active job had stints put in when he was in his late 50’s.  I knew that if I did not do something fast there was a good chance I may not make it to see my daughter get married!

I spent the next several months trying to figure out what to do.  My eating habits appeared to have become “NEEDS” and they were two difficult to break.  I would exercise but not see any results because my diet was so poor.  Out of frustration and depression I would stop exercising and eat more!  It was an endless cycle!

Time to Change

I had a good friend of mine tell me about Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.  He said that he had just watched it and he felt I should check it out because it was so interesting.

I put it off for a couple of months until one day I was stuck at home.  My wife had accidently blocked my car in and left for the day not knowing she had all the keys to our vehicles with her.  I couldn’t go anywhere so now what was I going to do?  I remember the video my friend had mentioned about a month or two earlier and decided to search for it on Netflix.

The immediate impact that movie had on my life was remarkable.  I dove right into juicing that same day with an all or nothing attitude!  After all what did I have to lose?  I was going to die if kept going down the path that I was on.

My Reboot Journey

I decided to Reboot in two stints: 35 days the first time (and I only had to stop because I was going on a 3 and 1/2 week cross country motorcycle trip). During the trip my desires and eating habits had changed so much I actually lost 6 lbs! Then when I got back I went for 40 days straight.

The first 3 or 4 days were hell and if you were not paying attention and looked the other way, I might have bitten your finger off for something to chew on.

For me the fact that I started on Sunday, May 4, 2014 was a HUGE hurdle to jump over right away.  For as long as I can remember Cinco de mayo has been celebrated in my family as a good reason to go out to a Mexican restaurant.  If I could make it without breaking down and going with the family to eat the next day, I could make it through anything baby!

Also, having the initial first three days working instead of over a weekend actually helped quite a bit because I was so busy it took my mind off of eating!

Eventually my body settled in and I began to experience major energy, the best sleep of my life, my mind seemed clearer, my skin was clearing up and I was seeing pounds drop off!  Though the average was about 2 pounds lost per day there were times when I would see as much as 5 pounds in a day.

I was feeling so amazing from the energy boost and great sleep that I actually wanted to get off the couch and exercise. I can’t ever remember a time in my life that I WANTED to exercise but I actually looked forward to it each day.  My juice was so satisfying I was able to go from just walking 20 minutes each day to a more intense work out similar to a P90X.  I love getting on my exercise bike and watching my Mariners play a few innings while I ride a dozen miles!

My Life Today

Long story short I currently weigh 231 pounds and have gone to a size 34 pants and a large shirt!  I no longer take any medications and am healthy!  We are talking over a 100 pounds and a new found health that has extended my life by decades! I now drink mostly juice during the week and eating on the weekends.

You can’t argue with the results of juicing!  Your body has the opportunity to heal while at the same time you are flooding it with all the nutrients it could ever want or need!

The great thing is once you get the idea of a “Diet” out of your head and start treating your body right, you no longer feel like you are missing out on the old garbage you used to intake daily.  A diet causes you to suffer because you are depriving yourself of the foods you love for temporary time until you reach a goal.  It is no wonder why people fail at diets all the time!  Who wants to suffer?

When you make a life change for yourself you will also impact those around you! I can never go back to what I was because people are counting on me and I LOVE THAT!

2 Weeks Juicing Turned into A Lifetime of No Medication

By: Success Stories

Jeanette shared part of her success story on the Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead facebook page, so we reached out and asked her to share more details for our Reboot community. Her story is unique because weight loss was never her goal — she never weighed herself before she started her Reboot (she doesn’t own a scale!). What she was able to achieve is remarkable and her health and her life have changed forever. No more medicine, no more hives, and weight loss was a bonus. Read her story to find out how she got to her current state of happiness and health.

Name:  Jeanette Stenhouse
Location: Canada
Reboot: 2 weeks
What Health Issues apply to you?
Autoimmune issues, High Blood Pressure, Migraines, Obesity
Did you Reboot to lose weight? No

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
My daughter, Marybeth, told me she wanted to do a juice fast after watching Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. I didn’t think that sounded too healthy, so I told her I’d have to watch the video first. At that point, I’d had chronic hives for a year. I sat down with my knitting to watch it, and when Joe said chronic urticaria, I put down my knitting and sat there totally absorbed in the video. I started researching juicers the next day, and decided to order the one that Joe used. While I was waiting for it to arrive, I bought a cheap used juicer and started my juicing journey.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I needed to get rid of my chronic urticaria and angioedema. I was learning to live with the daily hives, but when I had swelling on my face or tongue, I would go to the hospital and they would give me prednisone. I knew how bad prednisone was, so I was willing to try anything else.

How did the experience go for you?
The first 3 days were horrible. After that, I started to feel really good. I recommend to people starting to juice, to do at least 5 days to start. I started with a 2 week juice fast. That seems to be my limit.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I wish I had weighed myself before, and taken a proper ‘before’ picture. We don’t own a scale, so I have no idea how much weight I’ve lost!

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
I used to get headaches 2 or 3 times a week. Since I started juicing a year ago, I haven’t had a single headache. I have no more aches and pains. My blood pressure is normal now. And I have so much more energy. I’m completely off all medication, including over the counter meds. I just don’t need them. My hives haven’t completely gone away. If I’m exposed to something I shouldn’t have, like nightshade vegetables, I still get them. But, they are completely under control since I started juicing. I have my life back, thanks to Joe Cross. Before I saw the video, I didn’t know anyone else who had CU. Knowing I wasn’t alone in this really helped my mental state. The Reboot with Joe Community has also really helped me.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The hardest part of juicing, for me, is making it affordable. When I started, I loved cucumbers but I hated them in juice. Now, I juice at least one cucumber every day.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I have at least one juice a day now. I’ve completely eliminated processed food from my diet. I do a 2-3 day juice fast every couple of weeks. I eat mostly fruits and vegetables and protein.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
For me, it’s been a lifestyle change. I can’t imagine not juicing. I feel absolutely fantastic. My husband and our daughter are also juicing.

My Journey of a Thousand Miles that Began with a 3 Day Reboot

By: Success Stories

Name: Paul Urfi
Age: 44
Location: United States
Reboot: 3 day
What Health Issues apply to you? High Cholesterol, Obesity
Did you Reboot to lose weight?
Yes
How did you learn about Reboot?
A coworker of mine (who had started their own journey back to good health and lost a bunch of weight) mentioned the documentary to me.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I saw a picture of myself (the “before photo and I didn’t recognize the person in the photo. I felt horrible, both physically and mentally. I knew I wasn’t performing at my best and I was starting to see and feel the effects that my lifestyle was having on my health and well-being. I was run down – even after a good night’s sleep I never felt great or seemed to have enough energy. I had numerous aches and pains and honestly felt much older than my age. My waist had grown to 43 inches and wasn’t stopping. I was cranky, irritable and just not a happy camper. I just didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin anymore. My doctor had me on medication to lower my cholesterol, clear my sinuses and was concerned about my blood sugar.

I snored like a freight train and he suggested that I might want to consider a sleep study and a CPAP machine. I could see that I was on a path to ruin. I realized, after watching FSND, that my diet was the first logical place for me to start making changes. My diet was horrible… lots of processed foods, fast foods and I could probably count the number of servings of fruits and vegetables I ate in a week on one hand. I certainly wasn’t consuming FRESH fruits and veggies regularly either. Here’s a great example of what I was doing to myself. I figured out that on a daily basis, I was consuming at least 500 calories and over 6g of sugar just from peanut butter. Factor in all the other poor food choices I was making and it wasn’t a shock that I looked the way I did.

How did the experience go for you?
I firmly believe that completing the 3 Day Reboot changed my life. Not just for the obvious health benefits, but because it gave me a small win that I was able to build on to make other significant changes in my life. I told myself if I could just make it through 3 days, then I could do anything. I won’t lie, it was tough for me at first – mentally mostly. I was reliant on food for so much more than just sustenance. I had to completely rethink my relationship with food and the Reboot helped immensely with that.

Once I started paying attention to the food that I put in my body, things began to change for me. More important than just the types and quantity of food was the quality of the food. It wasn’t just about the calories (although they’re important), it was about the nutrients. I realized that even though I may have been consuming enough calories on my old diet (ok, too many), I was literally starving myself to death from a nutritional standpoint. My body was never going to get the vitamins and nutrients it needed for optimum health if I didn’t change my diet. Of course watching calories was important, but once you give your body the nutrients that it craves you’ll be surprised how easy it is to eat less.

Throughout my experience (and even today) people ask me how I did it and my answer is always a disappointing “the watch what you eat and move your feet” diet. Most people know that to be true but don’t like the answer. There isn’t a “magic pill” and you don’t need to follow some complex food ritual to achieve results. I learned that going back to basics could help me achieve my goals. Once I completed the 3 Day Reboot, the ball was rolling. I incorporated juicing into my daily life and that helped me improve my diet overall.

As the pounds started to drop off I felt inspired to start exercising. I just walked at first…nothing crazy, just a little every day. I got a pedometer and started tracking my steps. I set some goals for myself; 10K steps a day. Pretty soon the pounds started dropping off faster. I was inspired! I joined a gym and began doing cardio and strength training workouts 3 days a week – something I still do today. Not long after that I realized that in order to keep my heart rate up I had to walk faster and faster which eventually lead to running. Once I started doing that I got the crazy idea that perhaps I could actually run a 5K… I ran my first 5K in September and just completed my 4th. My next goal is a 10K and then a half marathon. All of this because I decided that I could possibly do a 3 Day Reboot. The journey of a thousand miles does indeed begin with a single step. I’m still amazed myself.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
Ultimately I’ve lost over 70 lbs. (32 kg) in the past year. It’s the first few pounds that I saw drop off during and as a result of the Reboot that inspired me. It was that first small win and how I felt that provided the spark of change. It’s said that we won’t make a change until we’re aware that there is a problem or that there is another (better) way. The Reboot showed me that there was in fact a much better way and that I could feel and be better than I was.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
Many.

– I am no longer on any medications.
– I’ve lost 9 inches off my waist.
– I now wear a size L shirt instead of a XL or XXL.
– I sleep much better and I don’t snore (much to the delight of my wife)!
– I just feel better – my spirits are up and emotionally and mentally I feel like I can take on the world again!
– My skin is the healthiest it’s ever been. I’ve suffered from cystic acne my entire life. That problem has completely gone away.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
Taking that first step. Once I started I kept reminding myself that it was achievable and I had a lot of support from family and friends. After the Reboot, as my diet began to transform, I didn’t beat myself up for any slips or “less than perfect” days. Each day was a new opportunity to make the best choices for my health that I could and that’s the bar I set for myself.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I still juice at least once or twice a day. Since starting this process we’ve joined a food co-op and visit the farmers market weekly. As a result the food available to myself and my family is much more nutritional and of higher quality. We cook more. I avoid dairy, alcohol, fast foods, refined white flour, refined white sugar, processed foods, and grains in general. I use fresh ingredients whenever possible and generally try to eat stuff that doesn’t have a label.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
The Reboot and juicing changed my life. The number of ways are almost too numerous to count but at the top of the list are weight loss, overall health and an improved sense of well-being. I never miss a chance to tell people my story if they ask. Juicing is now a part of my life and is always front and center in that story. It’s been the foundation for my daily food choices and will continue to be as long as I have any say in the matter. I tell people that even though I’m only in my 40’s I’m actually training for my 70’s and 80’s. The choices I make now will have a direct impact on my quality of life in future years. I had to make these changes in my life now. I want to enjoy my golden years with my best friend – my wife, I want to walk my daughters down the aisle and I want to spoil my grandchildren rotten (eventually).

My bucket list is long and I’m going to need to be healthy and active if I want to get to all of it.

Mark Lost Weight, Gained Energy & Stopped Meds

By: Success Stories

Name:  Mark Beddoe
Age: 47
Location: United Kingdom
Type of Reboot/Number of Days: Juice only Reboots (Several but never more than 7 days)

What Health Issues apply to you?
Gout, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, IBS/Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Obesity

Did you Reboot to lose weight? Yes

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
An old colleague, who had transformed themselves via juicing, suggested that I watch the film Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I was morbidly obese and other diets hadn’t worked in any kind of sustainable way. Seeing the transformation that a colleague had achieved and watching Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead seemed to all make sense. It was a no brainer and something that I had to try for myself.

How did the experience go for you?
I completed a 5 Day Reboot. Days 2 to 3 were difficult with the dreaded detox headaches but it was actually easier than I thought it would be.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
In that first Reboot (5 days) I lost about 9 lbs (4 kg). Since then, I have incorporated juicing into my daily life and I Reboot every 3 to 4 months or so. I lost over 80 lbs (36 kg) in 12 months and I’m still going!

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
Yes! Since incorporating juicing into my life I have abundant energy. My eyes and skin are clear and I feel very alert. My blood pressure and cholesterol are fine and I recently stopped having to take any medication for gout.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The toughest part of everyday was when I got back home after a day at work. I was usually feeling quite hungry by this point. A large glass of water or an herbal tea was usually enough to get me through to the next juice of the day.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I juice for breakfast & lunch every day Monday to Friday. In the evenings I eat a predominantly plant- based healthy meal. I stay away from dairy, refined white flour, refined white sugar and processed foods. On the weekends I am a little more flexible depending on what is happening socially and I usually share a typical Sunday lunch with my family. Juicing has been incorporated into my life forever!

What is lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
My lasting impression is that juicing has been the best thing that I have ever done for my health. So much so that I want to share the benefits of juicing as far and as wide as I can. I truly believe that juicing has given me my life back. You can follow my healthy journey on Twitter @exploreJuice!

My Disease Was Ruining My Life but Juicing is Saving It

By: Success Stories

Name: Tiffany L. Stokes
Age: 33
Location: Rahway, NJ
Reboot: 1 week of juice only followed by eating and juicing fruits and vegetables

What Health Issues apply to you?
Autoimmune Issues, Arthritis

Did you Reboot to lose weight? No

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I learned about Reboot after a friend told me to watch Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. After watching the film, I went on the website and started to explore the possibility of juicing.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
Towards the end of June of this this year, I started to notice that it was becoming difficult to do certain things. The biggest thing I noticed is that I was having a harder time getting up from the floor or standing up after kneeling down. Not only that, eating was becoming difficult because my throat became swollen and it was difficult to swallow. Over the next month or so, it became harder to lift my arms as well as my legs. It got so bad that it was hard to get in and out of the car. I had to sit down first and literally lift both of my legs into the car. Although I could drive, it even became difficult turning the car wheel.

I had some blood work done and was sent to see a rheumatologist. The rheumatologist had other blood work done and while waiting on the results, she sent me to an ear, nose, and throat doctor about the trouble I had swallowing. Once the blood results came back, I was sent to see a neurologist. These 3 appointments all occurred in the same week in the middle of August.

Besides blood work, I also had an EMG done (which tests for muscle and nerve damage) and a muscle biopsy.

In the end, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune inflammatory disease called polymyositis that causes muscle weakness. It also causes trouble swallowing, which is what I was also experiencing. My muscle weakness is from my neck all the way down to my legs.

This disease was ruining my life. I’m a 33 year old single mother of a 7 year old and life was becoming difficult. It was hard to do simple everyday tasks. I would barely lift my arms above my head. I couldn’t sit on the floor because I could not get up by myself. It was hard to even stand up from the couch. I fell a total of 5 or 6 different times in different locations and each time I had to get assistance standing up. I even had to call the police once because I fell in the middle of the night. This is how bad it got. My feet and legs seemed to stay swollen, no matter how much I elevated them. They were so swollen that it hurt to walk.

And on top of that, because it was difficult to swallow, I was steadily losing weight from not getting the proper nutrition I needed. I weighed 118 lbs/54 kg, I’m 5’3”, and although it’s not a bad weight, I’ve lost a lot of muscle, so I actually look sick. Not a look that I like.

There is no cure for polymyositis, although it can be treated….with Prednisone. I knew that that was the medication that I was going to be put on and also knew from my research that it was not one I wanted to be on long term. I was put on 40 mg of Prednisone a day.

After watching, FS&ND, I just became completely inspired from Joe’s story. No, I wasn’t going for weight loss, but what inspired me was that he was completely able to reverse his disease and to get off of Prednisone completely, just from juicing and eating right.

I knew that something I was eating was causing my inflammation. Although I had adopted a plant-based lifestyle almost 2 years ago, I had still been consuming dairy on occasion, either through cheese pizzas, junk food, or not paying attention when eating out. I had even eaten things like pepperoni, bacon, and sausage. Cheese was my vice because I was so addicted to it.

I was desperate. I was just put on Prednisone but also knew that I needed to get the right nutrition on. Why not Reboot since it was hard to swallow solid food anyway? I don’t like taking medication and although I have to take this, I was going to do everything I could to make sure I get off it as soon as possible.

I went through the Reboot with Joe site, looked at and priced different juicers, and decided to take the plunge. I ordered my juicer, ordered the books so that I could be successful, and a week after being put on Prednisone, I started juicing.

How did the experience go for you?
The experience has been great! I absolutely love drinking fresh juices every day. I stopped buying store bought juice over a year ago and fresh made juices are nothing compared to what is sold in the store. I even make a juice on occasion for my daughter when she asks for it.

I was surprised at the fact that I was not hungry, even during the first couple of days. I didn’t even have any major detox symptoms, which was amazing. I figured with all of the dairy and meat I had right before I started that I would have a lot of detox symptoms. I had very little!

Due to my weight loss from the illness, the first week was the only week where I only drank fresh juices. After that, I started eating fresh cooked greens to help with gaining some weight and not losing more than I already have.

I noticed that the more juices I drank, especially green juices, the more I craved green leafy vegetables. I either want to drink or eat some type of greens every day. Even though I have always liked green veggies, I have never liked them as much as I do now!

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I am not sure if I lost any weight. If I did, I may have lost a few pounds during my first week when I only juiced.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
I noticed a great deal of healthy and physical improvements during my Reboot.

The first thing I noticed was the swelling. My feet had been swollen for over a month with very little to no relief, no matter what I did. Within the first 3 to 4 days of juicing, the swelling in my feet went away…and never came back! I was so happy that I could walk without pain.

I have 2 floor lamps and for about a month I was so weak that I could not even turn the light on or off. I had to either get my daughter to turn it off or unplug the lamp to turn it off. By the end of my first week of juicing, I was able to turn the light off!

Over the next few weeks, I noticed that I had more energy than I did before. Slowly I was able to lift my arms more and more. Prior to me juicing, I couldn’t lift my arms past the first shelf in my cabinet. Within 2 weeks of juicing, I was able to reach the second shelf a little easier, although I had to use some force to get anything on there. Now, I can put things on the second shelf a lot easier than before.

Prior to the Reboot, I had a hard time turning the wheel in the car, getting in and out of car, and closing the car door. Now, I can get in the car a lot easier. I still have to lift my left leg into the car, but I can reach the open car door with little difficulty and I can turn the wheel without a struggle now.

My strength is still pretty weak, but I am able to lift some things like grocery bags that I could not even lift before. If the bags are too heavy, I can’t lift them, but I can carry them with my arms by my side. My daughter has to still help me when we go grocery shopping.

I just started physical therapy, so I know between that and the juicing, I will slowly build my strength up.

Although I am taking Prednisone, I know that all of the improvements that I have and continue to experience is from me juicing. It takes a month for the medication to start working and I was only on it for a week when I started juicing. This shows me how powerful drinking fruits and veggies are!

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
There were really no tough parts that I experienced during the Reboot. I had a great experience and did not suffer from any real detox.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I continue to drink freshly made juice every day and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. One of those is always a green juice. I make my juices for 2 days at a time, and drink them through the two days.

I also eat more green leafy vegetables like kale, spinach, collard greens, Swiss chard, beet greens, or any other type of greens that I can get. I eat other veggies as well, and fruit, but leafy greens are not more of staple than before.

I was already eating a plant-based diet and now I have no desire to ever eat dairy or meat again. I believe that those foods were making me sick and I refuse to eat them again.

I always have some type of fresh greens to either cook or juice each week. I make tasty fresh juices for my daughter so that she can get her nutrients in but have something that she likes.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
Juicing is saving my life! That’s my lasting impression. If it weren’t for me embarking on this wonderful journey, I honestly don’t know where I would be right now. I will always keep juicing as s part of my daily ritual.

Not only that, this experience has taught me about caring for my body. I was already interested in eating better to live better, but going through this ordeal has awakened a new love in me to help others. I am now going to be studying to become a Certified Health Coach. I won’t push any one idea on someone, but I will tell people how juicing saved my life! This is something that I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

My Big Wake Up Call Led to Big Weight Loss

By: Success Stories

Name: Adam Harding-Jones
Age: 48
Location: Wirral, England
Reboot: Ongoing – juices and one meal in evening
What Health Issues apply to you?
Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, IBS/Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Obesity

Did you Reboot to lose weight? Yes

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I watched Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and then met Joe at an event in Liverpool earlier this year. It was Joe’s words of inspiration that made me go home that day and start the change.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
My health was poor and l was very overweight.  After a health scare in December last year that had me in the hospital for a week, I finally understood l needed to do something about my weight and general well-being. The doctor said l was probably Type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure, fatty liver, DVT and blood levels that are all over the place. l knew l needed to do something, l just didn’t know what until l met Joe. His words hit home. I knew there was no turning back.

How did the experience go for you?
It went well and I noticed the changes very soon. I cut out alcohol and dairy products as well as fast food and processed meats and meals. Yes it was hard at first but as the weight dropped off I started to feel better. I set myself some short and long term goals: Go to gym, get and ride a road bike and join a club, do tough mudder. These seemed a long way off with the scales touching nearly 30 stone. Well I had to start somewhere. I started at a gym and with some treadmill and indoor bike work I started to see the benefits.

With a combination of juicing and exercise I knew there was no going back. My skin was better, I was feeling more positive, and I even had friends tell me how worried they had been and now could see the change.

With more training I knew a tough mudder was to come. This would be a challenge and a test like no other. My family was a little concerned that l may have taken on more than I could chew, but that made me more determined to complete it. So in September 2014, on my dad’s birthday who had passed away two years before from cancer, I DID IT.

Here I am knee deep in water and mud!

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I started February 4, 2014 and to date have lost 8 stone/112 pounds/51 kilos in 8 months.

I now have no type 2, no high blood pressure, no fatty liver, no kidney problems or kidney infections, no DVT. I have no problems. Now I run, cycle and compete in tough mudder events.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
Very much so! I am breathing much better, doctor told me my bloods have gone back to normal and my heart rate is now one of a normal person, skin is clear and l now do tough mudders and cycle.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
I enjoyed it because l knew l needed this and it may be my last chance. The positive feedback helped give me a focus.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
No alcohol
No bread
No processed food
No fast food
No dairy
Lots of fruit and vegetables

I’ve gone through a complete change which l’m finding easy to stick with.

What is your Lasting Impression of the Reboot experience?
Good health, a positive outlook, and a new group of friends in the community l found through my friend Steve Barney in Liverpool helped me succeed.

I enjoy our beatroot events once a month where we get together and share the knowledge and friendship.

So I’m happy to say that I was able to go from this…

A Clean Diet Cleared Tanya’s Skin Condition

By: Success Stories

Name:  Tanya
Age: 29

Reboot:  30 Days

What Health Issues apply to you? High Cholesterol and Eczema

Did you Reboot to lose weight? Yes

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I didn’t know about Rebooting until I watched the movie Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I was 300lbs/136kg in December 2013 and I made a vow to lose weight before my 30th birthday. I started my own diet plan and for the months of January and February but my weight loss was very slow. My friend told me to watch FSND in February and I wanted to start right away but I didn’t have the funds or a juicer to do so. I waited until March and I got a group together and we vowed to do a 10 day juice fast. Well, they did the 10 days and I saw the weight falling off very fast, so I decided to continue and go 30 days. I lost 50lbs/23kg!

How did the experience go for you?
This experience made me make better choices in what I eat, my daily activities, and it also gave me a clear mind on how to handle decisions properly. I now live my life day to day helping others reach their own health goals.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I am 70lbs/52kg lighter!

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
The biggest improvement for me was my eczema cleared up! I am 29 years old, I have never had eczema a day in my life until I was 28. At this age I was my heaviest at 300 pounds. I saw a rash developing and I didn’t know what it was until my doctor explained to me it was eczema. It just itched terribly and when I scratched it, it would spread all over my body. It lasted for about 3 – 5 months. When I started juicing it cleared up!

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The toughest part was not eating a HOT meal*. Thirty days with nothing hot in my body was far more the worst part of the Reboot process. Especially when you Reboot in the winter and nothing HOT is in your body it was certainly a test!  haha.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I make it a point to eat fruits and veggies every day! I juice for dinner every night, even on the weekends. It’s my normal routine. When I eat, I eat clean. That includes tons of fruits, veggies, beans, nuts and seeds, and chicken and fish. I treat myself on the weekends and I am working out more than I ever did before.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
When you Reboot you give your body a chance to cleanse itself. I Reboot from time to time. I try to stick with “clean foods” as often as possible. This Reboot experience has changed my thought process on what’s good for my body!

I Stopped Smoking & Started Craving Juice

By: Success Stories

Name: Jason C.
Age: 43
Location: Jarrow, UK
Reboot: 28 days

What Health Issues apply to you?
High Cholesterol

Did you Reboot to lose weight?
Yes

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I saw FSND on Netflix and it got me interested. Then I watched it a second time and thought I would give it a try.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
In November last year I lost my job, nearly lost my house and started to smoke and drink heavily. I ate junk food daily and was a mess. I was put on a high dose of depression medication, Mirtazapine, to help me sleep but it worked too well and I was sleeping until 9/10am. Earlier this year I picked myself up a bit, started my own business and things started looking up but my health was still a mess. After watching FSND I thought it was about time to do something about it.

How did the experience go for you?
Well I decided to do everything at once: I stopped smoking, stopped my medication and started the Reboot. The first few days were a real struggle; I didn’t think I would make it but on day 5 I woke up early like I used to at 5:30am full of energy so I went to the gym and did a workout, came home and felt amazing. I did fall off the juicing wagon on day 13 with some junk food but it didn’t agree with me and I found I craved juice.  As a punishment to keep me incentivized, I decided to sign up for a half marathon on the 26th of October. I started a training program for the rest of the 28 days. Once I finished the Reboot I continued juicing twice a day and eating mostly raw, healthy meals.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I started weighing in at 200 lbs/91 kg, and at the end of the Reboot I weighed 176 lbs/80 kg. Now I weigh a healthy 170 lbs/77 kg.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
Where do I start?  I stopped smoking with ease after trying for 20 years, when I started the marathon training I could manage 3 miles with an average mile of 10:50 per mile. Last Sunday I ran 10.2 miles at a pace of 9:15 per mile. I no longer take medication for my depression or insomnia, I sleep a good 6 – 8 hours and love getting up at 5 – 6am to go running or to the gym. My rather large beer gut has disappeared.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The first 4 days were the toughest thing I have ever done in my life, and finding juices I liked.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I juice every day and eat a healthy balanced meal, I no longer crave junk food or alcohol or nicotine. At 44 I am in the best physical shape of my life and wake up every day knowing it with a smile on my face. I will do a juice-only Reboot at least once every three months and encourage others to join me.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
It has changed my life completely. I talk about it to others and have inspired lots of friends and family to try as they have seen the results in the flesh with myself.

I Lost 75 Pounds & Found a New Way to Think About Food

By: Success Stories

Name:  Sharon B.
Age: 46
Location: Harrisburg, SD
Reboot: 2 juice only Reboots; 25 days and 30 days

What Health Issues apply to you?
Autoimmune issues, Arthritis, High Blood Pressure, Obesity

Did you Reboot to lose weight?
Yes

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I learned about Reboot from watching FSND. I had seen commercials for the documentary and looked it up on Netflix. I watched it twice.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I was inspired by Joe’s and Phil’s stories. It resonated with me. I suffered from fatigue that significantly limited my ability to do the things I used to enjoy doing. I had high blood pressure. I had struggled with my weight since the birth of my first child, 26 years! I knew I had to do something.

How did the experience go for you?
The Reboot was easier than I thought it would be. I started with the goal of doing it for 15 days and then I would see how it went. My first juice fast lasted 25 days. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the juices. During the fasts, I felt younger, more energetic and alive. Once I began eating again, I found that gluten was a large cause of my fatigue. Every time I ate something with gluten, I felt the heaviness and fatigue that I had experienced for so many years. After the first fast, I continued to drink juices for breakfast and lunch and have a healthy dinner for a month. I followed that month with another month-long juice fast.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I lost 20 lbs/9 kg in the first 25 day Reboot. I continued to lose weight during the next months while I learned how to eat healthier and did another juice fast. After the second juice fast, I switched to eating a low carb diet. In the 9 months since I did my first Reboot, I have lost 74 lbs/34 kg. I am not at my goal yet but feel and look so much better.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
My energy level is incredible! I got off of my blood pressure medication after losing about 35 lbs/16 kg in 3 months. I was able to begin exercising after 2 months. At first, I was only able to work on the elliptical for about 20 minutes, 3 times a week. I have been able to add strength training and other forms of cardio exercise and am now able to do vigorous exercise for an hour 5 – 6 times a week.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The toughest part was the planning. I am a person who likes to be prepared and I found that it required more time and money to do the shopping. The juicing itself was really not very difficult.

Now, I feel like I am eating in a way that I can maintain for the rest of my life. I am not on a diet, I have changed the way I eat. More importantly, I have changed the way I THINK about food.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I have continued to eat healthy, focusing on healthy proteins and vegetables with small amounts of fruit and nuts. I have continued to exercise, increasing the intensity and length over time. I have increased my water intake to about 100 oz. per day.

What is your lasting Impression of the Reboot experience?
The Reboot experience was invaluable for me. It helped me change the way I think about food. It gave me the initial success that I needed to believe that I could be successful after many years of trying to lose weight. Because of how great the juices make me feel, my focus shifted from just losing weight to gaining health. It also just abolished my cravings. I don’t long for sweets and breads the way I used to. People comment on how much willpower I must have and I have to tell them that after my Reboot, it is really pretty easy to make healthy choices.
