This week we brought a little Asian-flare into our Freshmade kitchen. The kids made homemade, healthy Carrot-Squash Potstickers that were served with a simple Citrus-Tamari Dressing. You don’t have to limit yourself to just carrot-squash in the potstickers. Other great ingredients to fill these with are mushrooms, ginger, cabbage, bell peppers, fresh herbs like parsley and cilantro, sweet potato and even apples!
It’s not only heart health month but since today is Valentine’s Day, this month is abuzz with the color red. So for obvious reasons, we focused on red foods this week! Red fruits and veggies are loaded with powerful, healthy antioxidants. Enjoy these refreshing and nutrient-rich snacks with your children after school today.
Instead of hot chocolate, let your kids warm up to this warming “milk” shake when they are finished playing in the snow. The cardamom in this shake is refreshing to the mind and the body and also for treating respiratory infections such as cough and cold. It’s great for digestion and keeps the body warm.
Freshmade NYC warmed the kids’ bellies this week with delicious muffins packed with their favorite orange veggies (carrots and butternut squash) and topped them with a mouthwatering coconut whipped cream. They finished their afternoon by washing the muffins down with a super smoothie. Check out the recipes.
