Do you ever have dessert for lunch? I’m guilty of it. Not in a eat-a-chocolate-chip-cookie kind of way, I’m talking smoothies that taste just like dessert — a creamy, decadent, rich, healthy treat right in your glass. It’s the kind of smoothie that makes it hard to believe that every sip is actually super nutrient-dense, fiber-rich, and filled with fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. Another plus side? It’s so cheap. Initially buying the goji berries, the chia seeds, the hemp seeds, etc. may seem like a slight dent to your wallet, but if you make a smoothie for lunch instead of buying your own (the juice bars around us sell their smoothies for at least $9), you’ll be saving money. A couple tips on saving for smoothie ingredients is to buy in bulk, purchase frozen fruit and even vegetables like spinach or kale, and just use water as your base. I still love using almond milk, but I find using water doesn’t change the consistency too much at all.
