In the Reboot Kitchen: Green Berry Bliss Smoothie

When it comes to adding a nutritious indulgence to green smoothies, raw cacao powder is on the top of my list. It provides an excellent flavor and adds a high antioxidant superfood boost. It works well with most base fruits such as bananas, mangoes, and peaches, and after I made this smoothie I found out it works well with blueberries, too!
I promise this smoothie is a tasty one. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how deliciously sweet it is even though it’s loaded with greens.
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 handful spinach
1/2 frozen banana
2 kale leaves
1 Tbsp. raw cacao powder (or carob powder)
1/2 Tbsp. flax oil (or coconut oil)
1 date, pitted (optional to add for extra sweetness)
1 cup almond milk
Directions:
Add all ingredients into blender and blend for at least one minute until smooth.

I just made this for brekkie! I was out of kale and cacao so added extra spinach and used carob powder. Not as yummy as cacao but still pretty good
“brekkie:? seriously??
will try this tomorrow! although i am only juicing in the morning and noon…. dinner is usually a salad.
Just made it. Subbed dried cherries for dates and used unsweetened coco powder (cause it’s what I had). Made enough for 2 and it’s excellent!
I’ll have to try this. I’ve never tried raw cacao powder in a smoothie.
I don’t do veggie in smoothies, but will give it a go part juiced part blended. I’m wondering though, is cacao powder okay during a fast, or is this recipe for when we are juicing as part of a normal diet?
Come to think of it, is flax seed/coconut okay for fasting?
You would not drink smoothie or oil during a juice-only fast, I don’t think. But juice fast is only one of the many options of doing a Reboot.

Feeling under the weather today, was reading this recipe..sounded doable..while feeling crummy..had to change it a bit due to supplies on hand…Greek vanilla yogurt and bit of honey for flavor, berries, frozen banana, kale and a bit of low fat milk…(really need to grocery shop tomorrow!). It was wonderful…thanks for the inspiration…made my day brighter!
I’m glad you’re feeling better Dawn, but I think a major thing about Reboot is that you stay away from dairy… That’s why in so many smoothie recipes they call for almond milk (soy milk works fine too)…
I don’t think you can call a handful of spinach and 2 kale leaves “loaded with green” LOL
I used stevia instead of dates. It was good, but didn’t love, love it. But was nice for a change of pace from my regular. And never tried cocao in a smoothie. So that as interesting!
