3 Delicious Ways to Enjoy Citrus This Winter 

Vibrantly colored, delicious tasting citrus fruit is a true savior during winter’s gray, cold days. These fruits do more than taste yummy: They’re also good for your health. Oranges, lemons, grapefruits and other citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C.

Citrus fruits also provide folate, potassium and fiber, according to Children’s Health of Orange County (CHOC).  Plus, they contain flavanoids, which may have anti-cancer properties, says the Mayo Clinic. They’re fat-free, low in calories and super hydrating, to boot!

You can have citrus all on its own — just throw an orange in your bag. But there’s also plenty of other ways to enjoy this fruit. Here are some ideas:

  1. Jazz up your water. If you’re trying to drink more water each day, you can liven up your H20 with a squeeze of lemon or lime. (Here are some of the benefits you can expect from drinking more water.) Or, start your day with hot water and lemon!
  2. Incorporate it into salads. Lemon juice is great in salad dressing. Plus, you can incorporate the fruit right in your salad — try this grapefruit and kale salad.
