Spicy Tart Juice – Recipe Of The Week

This juice was inspired from one of the Aussie Reboot Your Life juices that are being sold at Woolworths in Australia. It is called a Spicy Lemonade Reboot juice; I love it! So I thought I would add onto this recipe. I wanted to make this at home and have it regularly as I love sour juices. I have made it a little more sour but feel free to add more apple and less citrus if you think it could be too sour for your taste.

Lemon is very beneficial to add to just about any juice. It is known for its liver and digestive enhancing benefits. The citric acid that lend the sour flavour that is naturally occurring in citrus can help improve the digestion of fats in the diet. It does this by stimulating your liver to create more bile, a digestive juice that dissolves the fat in your food. The citric acid also increases the digestive acidity and may improve the digestion of nutrients. The citrus pectin in the pith can also aid elimination through the bowels and has been shown to reduce hunger and cravings. Lemon, lime and grapefruit may help to reduce heartburn, bloating and flatulence. Citrus fruit is high in vitamin C and bioflavoniods which helps ward off infections throughout the year. Chilli can also increase the metabolism and is naturally high in vitamin C.
