As a reboot nutritionist, I often get asked the question, “How do I Reboot while I’m on a vacation or a trip?” Whether you are traveling for leisure or business, this important question deserves a good answer!
You may have a holiday or trip booked in the beginning, middle or at the end of your Reboot and you certainly don’t want to derail those efforts.
I’ve got a few ideas for you to consider while you’re traveling to ensure you’re successful in your planned Reboot and successful in your desired health changes. Don’t let a holiday be your excuse when you want to see those desired health changes come to fruition.
It’s helpful to plan ahead and research all the places where you could find a fresh juice in the areas you plan to stay. It can also be helpful to ask the hotel or the accommodation where you will be staying if they offer fresh juices and if they don’t, where could they direct you.
You can also Google daily delivered fresh juices, as many mobile juice delivery companies will deliver fresh juice to your hotel in most main cities around the world.
On the Reboot site we also offer Find a juice bar near you search option. This won’t list all the juice bars but it can be a good start. Many restaurants and cafes also offer fresh fruit and vegetable juices.
It can help to carry some spare jars or containers around so you can order a large serving to keep you going while you’re on the move.
I’ve heard about many Rebooters packing their juicers in their suitcase so they won’t be derailed while they are away. Holidays can prove to be the most tempting time to consume excess food and drink, and can undo a lot of healthy changes. Juicing while you’re away on a vacation can really ensure your success and it’s a great time to focus on your health and making those positive changes a permanent habit. If you can do it while away, you can do it anywhere!
Packing your juicer and juicing in your room is possible. Once you arrive at your destination, you can visit the local markets or fruit and vegetable produce stores in the area to get going.
Take or purchase a cooler bag to store your juices in while traveling, or simply make sure your room has a fridge in it where you can store your juices.
If fresh juices aren’t an option then you can purchase cold pressed juices from many stores or supermarkets. You want to make sure these are cold pressed or HPP and not heated but if there are no other options then a regular vegetable based juice is better than no juice at all.
If it’s not possible to bring one with you, don’t be shy to ask a friend or anyone you may know in the area if they have a spare juicer for a short time. This can open a great conversation about juicing and you may have a new buddy join you.
If you choose to eat while juicing when your vacationing then looking for meals and snacks that are plant based and healthy is important. Restaurants, cafes and take-away restaurants will cater to most requests and it can be helpful to call ahead or check out their menu online.
Order vegetable soups, fruit plates, vegetable-based side dishes and salads with the dressing on the side or simply ask for lemon and olive oil to reduce any sugary, additive-filled dressings that will ruin your healthy salad.
Keeping fruit in your bag is also a great tactic to keep you successful along with purchasing pre-cut veggies.
While away it’s great to read successful Reboot testimonials about the benefits of juicing. It is also very helpful to watch any of Joe’s movies to keep the momentum and motivation going, as this helps many Rebooters to stay on track.
And if you fall off the plan, remember each new meal and day brings a new opportunity to continue with positive choices. Most importantly, enjoy your holiday!
