Fun In The Sun

Celebrating the summer with outdoor get-togethers, barbecues, and picnics, while simultaneously navigating a Reboot can feel a bit alienating.

Not to worry! We have some tips here to help you beat the heat, be the life on the party, and get your juice on:

Play. Summer get-togethers are all about enjoying the great outdoors. Go for a swim, organize a game of softball, or build a sandcastle. Staying active will help keep you distracted from the food you’re not eating and kick in those happy endorphins at the same time.

Socialize. Now’s the time to let your inner extrovert shine- or at least make an appearance if she’s usually hiding. Parties are all about the people! Putting the emphasis on the conversations instead of the potato salad is a terrific way to make to friends and stick with your Reboot.

Steer clear of the grill. Not to state the obvious here, but why torment yourself with the sights and smells of the foods you are choosing not to eat at the moment?

Talk the talk. Be prepared: Your family, friends, and new acquaintances will want to know about your decision to abstain from the party platters. That’s ok! As long as you are solid in your convictions, and keep a positive attitude, all will be well. If nothing else, you will entertain some lively discussions!

Focus on the goal. By goal, I mean the goal of radiant health. Sure, you could eat that hot dog, but would it leave you feeling refreshed? I’m going with a no on this one. Put the plate down and give yourself a high-five.

Juice it up. Even if you don’t have a juicer, you can either bring your own juice with you in a sealed container or bring some fresh watermelon and pineapple to the party and drink the juice from them- add a little umbrella if you want to feel more festive! Or make your own lemonade stand!

Happy Summer Fun! I’d love to hear your tips for having fun, drinking your juice, and being a social butterfly at the same time.

See you at the beach!
