Black Bean-Mango Salad

Tropical foods were the topic of discussion at Freshmade NYC’s last Kids Dinner Club class (ages 3 to 5) so they couldn’t resist making a tropical salad! The kids loved it because it was colorful with a touch of sweetness thanks to the mango. Get the recipe!

After School Snack: Watermelon-Mint Smoothie

It’s hot out there in New York City so this week we are focusing on foods that hydrate! Did you know that watermelon is 92% water and strawberries are 91% water? Both also contain an impressive amount of vitamin C! Our Watermelon-Mint Smoothie combines both watermelon and strawberries, simply blended with a touch of mint! Delicious, hydrating and refreshing! Get the recipe.

After School Snack: Rainbow Hummus

We love hummus! It’s packed with fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and healthy fats. We pumped up our hummus even more with fresh veggies like carrots, beets, and asparagus – not only making it colorful but fun to eat! We created a Roasted Carrot, Beautiful Beet and Mellow Asparagus Hummus.

After School Snack: Tropical Green Lemonade

Is juicing just for grown ups? No way! At Freshmade they know that’s not the case. The majority of the kids who attend their cooking classes love fresh made juice. They decided to make a refreshing green juice for their afterschool snack of the week. And yes, the kids loved it. Why not give your kids a juicy treat when they get home from school today? You might be surprised at how much they like it.

After School Snack: Almond-Oat Bites

Toss out the junk food and make snack time fun and healthy for your kids. These Almond-Oat Bites are 100% kid-friendly (and adult-friendly!), a great snack, a fun after dinner dessert, or even a healthy breakfast option. Let your kids’ hands get dirty and get them making these in the kitchen today.

After School Snack: Carrot-Squash Potstickers

This week we brought a little Asian-flare into our Freshmade kitchen. The kids made homemade, healthy Carrot-Squash Potstickers that were served with a simple Citrus-Tamari Dressing. You don’t have to limit yourself to just carrot-squash in the potstickers. Other great ingredients to fill these with are mushrooms, ginger, cabbage, bell peppers, fresh herbs like parsley and cilantro, sweet potato and even apples!
