A New Way to Eat Grapefruit

I absolutely love a tasty (and healthy) dessert, and this one certainly fits the description. Broiled grapefruit is an easy item that requires few ingredients, and it’s oh-so-tasty. You can serve this as a dessert, a snack or even as part of your breakfast. Instead of using maple syrup to sweeten (although it’s full of nutrients including about 54 antioxidants), you can use honey, brown sugar or simply leave it as is. The cinnamon dash on top is of course a good source of flavor but also adds some blood-sugar balancing benefits as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 grapefruit, halved
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • dash of cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to broil and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the grapefruit in half and place on the baking sheet, flesh up.
  3. Place baking sheet with grapefruit into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or so until the grapefruit is soft and the top is slightly browned.
  4. Remove the pan from the oven and drizzle each grapefruit half with maple syrup and cinnamon.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
