Peachy Green Juice

By: Isabel Smith, MS, RD, CDN

Try this zesty juice as a way to power you up pre- or post-exercise as it’s loaded with electrolytes! The seasonal peaches are a source of vitamin C that acts as an antioxidant and also plays a role in skin health and rejuvenation. Peaches are also a source of potassium, an electrolyte that plays an important role in hydration and fluid balance, and are high in chlorogenic and neochlorogenic acid, found in both the skin and the flesh of the fruit that may play a role in preventing cancer growth, though studies are still being conducted. Swiss chard also provides many electrolytes and nutrients like potassium and sodium that aid with fluid balance and hydration, as well as vitamins C and A that may play a role in eye health and immunity. In addition, swiss chard provides a source of potent antioxidants and phytonutrients that may play roles as antioxidants and in benefiting blood sugar regulation.

Lastly, the limes provide vitamin C that may help to promote digestion as well as boost immunity and even may help provide benefit to blood sugar regulation.

The best part about this tasty and zesty juice is that it’s made from a 3 simple ingredients; to mix it up substitute limes for lemons or try adding any other dark leafy greens for swiss chard.
