Is it necessary to peel sweet potatoes? (And I never bother peeling ginger.) Oh, and I’m assuming you juice both as well as peeling, lol!
I don’t peel sweet potatos either.
I do not peel sweet potato and is the sweet potato cooked
I don’t peel sweet potatoes either, and they are raw. I think that once you cook it some of the water and nutrients are gone I think the point is to eat the fruit/veggie in its most natural state. I really only peel oranges & limes, cause the skin is bitter. And so because I don’t peel I only eat organic.
I love this juice! Instead of half a lime, I put a whole lemon in it and it really made it a refreshing lunch treat. I did not peel the sweet potato and also never peel the ginger. I always put my sweet potatoes in raw as you keep all the nutrients in that way.
Im super excited that my recipe was picked! I did a 3 day juice and loved how I felt inside & out! Im definitely making juicing a lifestyle! I will not peel the sweet potato next time!
Is it just me or the juice color is different than the one shown above?? I made this juice this morning and it came out more brown than orange. I put 6 kale leaves, and 1/3 bag of spinach and still enjoyed the taste. The next time I make this juice, I would also add an entire lemon like Lanceemery suggested.
Thank you,
I threw in a beet, and it’s the first juice that I tried that my husband liked!!
It’s ok Joe, You’re still learning. Love you and my new body
I absolutely LOVE this juice. I have made it everyday since it posted and will try lemon versus lime when I make it tomorrow. This will be my main staple. It was such a nice surprise to see this recipe posted because the day before I tried to make a vegetable juice using the same ingredients as V8….epic fail.
I suppose I didn’t use appropriate measurements.
Do you stay in a certain caloric range when creating these juices? I am trying for weight loss and am curious what the daily caloric intake should be when juicing only?
I`m not a nutritionist, but I do know we are never supposed to be under 1200 calories (female) and 1500-1800 (males) This is the average minimum amount of calories your body needs in order to function at a resting/sedentary pace. When ppl go on juice fast, the daily caloric requirements are usually met by juicing fruits and root vegetables–leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables are more nutrient dense in phynotrients and low in calories. That`s why its so important to balance them well.
Re: Peeling limes for juicing. It is not necessary. The rind is not bitter when juiced in our experience. Oranges and grapefruit, on the other hand are very bitter. Lemons are not a problem either, as i recall. We always use limes. They add a nice kick to your juice.
I just started juicing for me and my family. I tried this recipe as a possible lunch juice for me. I found if very good, but missed the tomato flavors from V8. I’m going to try a adding one or two roma tomatoes next time.
I really like this one…I didn’t have spinach at the time so i put a hand ful aneth added a cucumber. Too spice things up i also added 2 two habaneros!
