Energize Your 2014 with this Red ‘New Beginnings’ Juice

By: Isabel Smith, MS, RD, CDN

The New Year is a great time for reflecting on your past year, making goals for the year ahead, and for manifesting ways to make better and healthier food and activity choices in the coming year. One of the ways to start your new year off with a bang is by adding juices like this one to your daily routine.

The color red is often representative of new beginnings, good energy, and in the case of this brightly colored juice, a lot of nutrients and antioxidants. The beets and carrots in this juice bring a host of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that can help your body fight off disease and stay healthy. Beets in particular, contain a nutrient called betalain, which has been shown to provide antioxidants, help promote anti-inflammation and may also aid in detoxification. Juicing is a great way to get the most of the betalain in these beets as studies show that cooking at high heat may break the nutrient down.

Enjoy this juice as we welcome a new and great year ahead!
