What is the definition of stalk in the recipes here? Depending on who you ask, the answer differs. In the mean green recipe, and this recipe here ~ should I be using a “rib”, that is, the piece that detaches from the whole head or bunch of celery? Or is a stalk here the whole bunch itself?
I copied and pasted this from another recipe posted on here that was just “green juice” without the fruits. I wanted to post it on here, too, so I could get an answer quickly because I have to go shopping to start my juice and I want to know how much to buy! Thank you
I think they are referring to 4 pieces of celery, NOT 4 bunches. I take rib/stalk as being the same. I’ve done some juicing already & celery has kinda a strong taste, if you put in too much. Hope this helps!!

I have a Jack Lalane Power Juicer Pro and have not used it for a couple of years. Can anyone tell me how mine compares to the Breville brands?
I have no idea how it compares but that is the one I have and it works just fine.
I have both. I have found the Breville to be much more powerful which then creates a larger yield of juice for the same amount of veggies/fruit. I have also found it to be quieter and quicker. Also, the Breville has a great added feature of the pitcher/froth collector. The juice collects in the pitcher and when you pour it into a glass you get much less froth which makes it nicer to drink in my opinion.
I have an older Green Star Twin Gear and it needs a few replacement parts. It does really dry out the pulp.. that is good, I’m getting all the juice that is in there. Foam is a really big issue. However, it is a bear to clean. Has anyone used the Green Star in comparison with the other juicers? I tend to make 4-6 16oz jars, filled to the top for no air space rather than smaller batches. Input please.
Can you please tell me how many days in advance you can make the juice and keep it in the fridge??? I am getting ready to start this and would like to be able to grab and go sometimes…???
I used to have a jack lalane juicer. it took me almost an whole bag of apples to get one glass of juice. with the breville, i can get a glass of juice from one apple and one carrot.
Breville is a very popular brand in Australia, I believe that’s why Joe used it! I have a Jack LeLane and it works just as well.

what if you hate celery?
Try cutting your celery back to 2 ribs/stalks and increase your apple to 3. This should diminish the taste of the celery and actually make the drink a little sweeter.
I threw in a whole lemon, it seems to help a lot.

My husband and I started our juicing journey back in April, we feel great, Mean Green is our favorite juice. Sometimes we add spinach and parsley to our Mean Green gives us an extra boost. We both have broken our coffee addiction and now we have Mean Green in the morning.

Recently, I accidentally bought small oranges rather than lemons. Very tasty substitute if the lemon is a bit strong.

As nobody has answered you yet, allow me to give it a shot. It depends on what you like, sweet or tart or bland. For myself I love Granny Smith, next would be young Macintosh. I say young because when they are green they are nice and tart. However, some like Golden Delicious. For me they are too mealy but threw a juicer, you’d just get the juice, which I think is …well…bland.

Order the book Allen Carr’s easyway to stop smoking and read it completely then read again and stop smoking. It really is easy I have smoked for 35 years since I was 13 and have tried everything to quit and this worked easily for me
I second the advice on Allen Carrs book! I smoked for 15 years and using his book I quit easily. First couple weeks I wondered if it would actually work and the first week or so was the toughest. It’s been more than 3 years and I can’t imagine ever smoking again. I have no desire to ever smoke again.
We included coconut water in our juice with real young coconuts! We also use the left over juice and make Popsicles for a treat. It’s is still juice! Be creative and enjoy! If you use a Vitamix blender you can warm the juice like soup after you make your juice or slightly warm on the stove, very low heat! Just wanted to share! -Lindy

So, I’m starting to juice. When you talk about juicing ginger and it states it in tbsp or measurements such as that, how do I know how much that is? I’m usuing gingerroot I purchase from the store. Is that the same?
Hi Katie, aim for about 1 inch piece of ginger to start at most. Yes gingerroot is the same – enjoy!
A tbsp of ginger is misleading, isn’t it? It should have been expressed in ounces or inches. I love a lot of ginger so mine is about the size of a golf ball.
My question is, are people drinking this juice every day? I understand from the research that individuals should not juice the same greens more than two days in a row. Perhaps kale for two days, dandelion greens for two days, mustard green, and so on. I’ve seen conflicting reports.
Rotate your greens and listen to your body. Variety is key.

I haven’t heard to rotate greens, either. I have been drinking the Mean Green Juice for 2.5 weeks so far…I’m doing this for 30 days to start. So far I’ve lost 9 lbs and my husband has lost 13 lbs. We were already eating healthy. I was blending before I started juicing, so I’m not expecting the drastic results that Joe experienced, but I am expecting great results nevertheless. Will rotating the greens make a difference in how I lose weight…like not doing the same workout over and over?
O.k. just got a juicer, watched the show and want to try the Mean Green Juice. However, I am currently using the tool My Fitness Pal and would like the nutritional value (i.e. Calories, Carbs., Sugar, etc.). There are so many of the same recipe giving different figures. Does anyone know exactly?

My husband uses MyFitnessPal and we started juicing yesterday. I am curios to see how they will work together. I have found that we generally follow recipes but continue adding ingredients until we yield 32 oz of juice (we each drink half). Then I total what we put into the juicer for his my fitness pal. List 1 apple, 2 carrots, 1 serving raw broccoli, 1 serving kale, etc. Good luck!

I haven’t used myfitnesspal since I started juicing since I’m only consuming the juice and not the pulp. I thought the caloric information would be overstated since I’m not getting the pulp. Am I wrong about that?

Kale is quite expensive here so I use red lettuce, the little lettuce that is grown in water. Works fine. Adds a red colour too.

Is this mean green recipe meant to drink all at once?
Made 64 oz. of pineapple, grapefruit, oranges, tangerine juice last night and placed in an airtight mason jar and sat on my kitchen counter. How long will it last and should I have put it in the fridge. I heard someone say juice does not have to be refrigerated if it is consumed in 48 hours. Is this true? I made 40 oz of apple juice last night and it smelled so bad by this evening that I threw it all out. I did not refrigerate it but I did have it in an air tight jar on the kitchen countertop. Does any one have any ideas on what went wrong. I wasted a lot of apples. Should I have refrigerated it? Do I lose any nutritional value by putting my raw juices in the frig?
You should refrigerate any portion of your juice that you don’t consume immediately. In addition, you should plan to consume your refrigerated juices within 48 hours.

How many servings does a typical juicing recipe make?
Just a quick question. How much juice does the above mentioned recipe produce.
The total amount of juice depends on what you put in it; the size of the apples, how much water is in the celery, weather you run the pulp through a second time. This morning I got 32oz out of this recipe with the addition of a few turnip greens. My kale leaves were young and I used twice as many to compensate. Since I used more leaves instead of bigger ones, there were more stems which have more liquid. I guess I had some really juicy apples and a pretty large cucumber too. Don’t worry about getting it exactly “right”. Produce is a natural thing and nature isn’t defined by precise measurements.
I love this drink. I have been juicing for 27 days, but only yesterday was I recommended to try this Mean Green. I used romaine lettuce, the full thing, and it tasted amazing. I’ll try kale at some point. I am American, but living in Doha at the moment. I can watch segments of your documentary on Youtube. Looks interesting. Take care and thanks for the great drink!

Juice fasting has an alkalizing effect on your body’s Ph balance which in turn assists in neutralizing systemic acidity primarily derived from eating too much heavy animal or even some plant based proteins like grains and legumes. I believe the recommended amount is 16-20 ounces per meal, 4-6 juice meals a day; fruit juice in the morning and veg the test of the day (80/20 veg to fruit ratio in your veg drinks) Rotate the fruit and veg you use as much as possible, and juice the rainbow every day (use fruit and veg in variety of colors for max nutritional impact)

Hello, we have both the Jack Lalane and Ninja Juicers which is like a blender. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to using either of these? Also considering the Vitamix blender. Thanks Steve
Steve: The Ninja is a blender ( a good one). Blending keeps in all the fiber (the pulp). It is NOT juicing. It is something you can entertain after the juice fast, not during. Juicing concentrates all the nutrients for intense healing and rebooting and gives the body a rest – no fiber for digestion. Hope this helps.

Try a radish or two instead of the ginger. Gives it the fresh bite, but not sure how it affects the nutrient count. I’ve been juicing for a year, not exclusively, but started after seeing FSND and so excited I went home and used the blender till my Breville came. I did only the 5-day program, as I had not much weight to lose, but stayed with juice for breakfast and whenever I want a quick pick me up, plus raw or cooked veggies for other meals, fish and chicken. Only pain is the juicer cleanup every time. I lost 15 lbs after three months and then stabilized, but the important part is my shape has changed, no more belly fat, more muscle even though I only do yoga, not gym, as before. I’ve pretty much given up white starches, including any breads, white or brown. Don’t miss it with the juice. Bought a Vitamix too, as we winter and summer in different places, and like that for the ease of cleaning but it keeps all the fiber so the juice is thicker and more textured. I read somewhere that juicer is better for detoxing and letting your body rest, but blender or Vitamix also fine to use for everyday. I don;t worry about calories or nutrient counts, just drink your rainbow and it will work out. Listen to your body, it will tell you when you need more carrots or whatever. Change up your greens, add watercress, beet tops, parsley…tastes differ…I avoid chard, but like kale and cabbage (use sparingly) in my juices. I’m almost 70, off all meds, lowered my cholesterol, no flu or colds, feel great. And don;t worry about the times when you go off the juice due to family events, travel etc…just go right back on. Good luck!

I just made the ‘Mean Green’ and I am sorry to say, I almost gagged on the smell alone. The taste was just horrid to me. I have never had Kale before and I had no Ginger so I went with 1 small lemon as others suggested. Something in this juice is VERY strong and ‘hot/peppery’ to me, which I don’t like at all. Is it the Kale? My stomach feels like it’s on fire. Could it be the acid in the lemon? I was expecting, from all the positive posts, that this would taste ‘good’. I love produce in general so I was shocked at how awful it was. Help!
I started juicing last night, big mistake…it gave me so much energy that I could not go to sleep. I did, however; like the taste. I made up my own recipe by throwing lots of spinach, carrots, and a green apple in for sweetness. it actually turned out great. I juiced twice today, once in the morning and late afternoon and have been feeling satisfied as far as being hungry. gonna make up my first batch of MEAN GREEN in the morning. wish me luck!

everyone kinda of skirts the question of how much juice should i drink. I usually drink a cup when i wake up. i fill a 12 oz container with juice and ice to sip when i want it. When i get hungry around 2-3 in the afternoon i drink an 8 oz glass. around 6pm i fill my 12 oz container again and sip till i go to bed.
I’m on day 2 of a ten day fast to start. I’ve been drinking about 100oz, or 2.5L of juice a day. I just drink it when I’m hungry. I also drink a ton a water with it. I do all the juicing in the morning and then refrigerate it throughout the day. I can’t find any where the actual amount of juice to use, but I figure that I’ve never heard of anyone overdosing on vegetables, so we will see what happens.

You know what helps me make clean up easier? the clear bags you put your veggies in , in the store. I always grab extra ones for my pulp compartment on my juicer. Then get a cheap toothbrush to clean the pulp out of this makes it really quick and easy. don’t use soap in your plastic pieces and if so use unscented! Great name for the beet juice lol!!!!

Day 3 of 30 day fast, but I need help. I WILL Juice for 30 days……However, I feel like I’m choking this Mean Green juice down. One batch tasted like Celery, the next like Kale, the next like Ginger. Then, I added an apple (for a total of 3), and Baby Spinach, but I’m still not enthusiastic about the taste. Any suggestions? I want to Juice, bought a Jack LeLane, then a Breville….I’m committed! I just want it to taste better.
I can’t seem to get my kale to make juice. It just shreds up. I rolled it tight in a ball and tried that way. My juicer says it takes kale without any problems. it’s a Jack Lalane super model. Any help out there using the all important kale?
I was having a little trouble with the kale too. I do it last because it tends to slow down the juicer. Try chopping it up pretty good before pushing it through the juicer. That worked for me. Doesn’t seem to give too much juice though.

When you juice the kale should you remove the stems or just juice the kale stem and all? Im drinking this mean green right now and its pretty good! I removed the bigger peices of stem in mine but was just wondering what you do stacy?
Please read: Help: So today I started juicing, and I feel extremely sad right now. I tried the Mean Green & I did it, and I was very enthusiastic about trying it, and I tried it, and I’m not even done with my first cup of Mean Green juice. I put every ingredient, but I think I went wrong with the ginger. Instead of a tablespoon like it said here, I put a whole ginger root. A massive piece of ginger, & I think that messed the whole drink up for me, because I can’t even seem to enjoy drinking the juice without not wanting to get nauseated after taking a sip. The juice tastes very spicy. Like it literally tastes like spicy grass. When I swallow, it literally burns my throat. Is it suppose to do that? I know this is not easy to do, but the taste was very strong. I need help in order to make this drink more bearable to drink. PLEASE. Thank you.
Ginger is VERY strong tasting so, yes, a whole root would be way too much!
Not sure if anyone answered you or not, but yes that is what the problem is too much ginger, try putting a piece of root that measure about the size of a quarter depth and roundness approx. Ginger is very spicy you only need a little bit.
Is it bad to make alot ahead of time and drink it throughout the day? thats what I have been doing and a friend told me that its not good to Juice that way.
I’ve read that it’s ok as long as you keep the juice in a dark, cool, and tightly concealed container that doesn’t have much air space. Apparently it loses some nutrition the longer its exposed to air, but they say it should be ok if you drink it within 24 hours.
Joe said its best to drink juice within 24-48 hours (72 hours max) as long as its in an air-tight container, filled to the top and kept cold. I juice every couple days and make enough for 2.5 days each time. It takes me about 2 hours from start to clean-up but as a busy mom of 2, that’s what works best for me!
It’s my first day of juicing and I thought I was going to hate the drinks, especially because I’m not a big fan of celery. For breakfast, I had 2 apples, 1 lemon, and an inch of ginger root. what would you suggest to make this mean green juice with if I’ve been told to stay away from any leafy greens such as kale, spinach, etc. because of a low oxilate diet I have to be on due to numerous kidney stones I have had in the past…I am on potassium citrate pills also for that… I have been kidney stone free for over 1 yr. now and am very concerned to drink this large amount of kale in this recipe but I am determined to do this reboot detox..HELP, what to do?

Has anyone noticed that if you let the juice sit in the fridge for a little while 1-5 hours the flavors become more blended and each of the ingredients are not as pronounced. I think this make for the juice tasting much better.
The longer the juice is stored, the more nutrients it loses though.

Yes!!! I did the mean green for 3 straight weeks and I did lose weight but the whole time my stomach became so bloated i felt pregnant and I had TERRIBLE gas. I started it up again and Im getting the same symptoms. Its driving me crazy because I dont know why my body is reacting like this. Does anyone have any insight?? I am 27 and im in pretty good shape with no issues of gas/bloating or digestive issues previously.
Soluble fiber ferments in the digestive tract, releasing a lot of gas. Intestinal bacteria cause the fermentation. It is normal.

Today is day one of a 3 day “trial run” for my wife and I. I have to say that it’s 10:30am CST and I drank my first glass of juice at 7:30am. I’ve been drinking water with lemon juice and I haven’t felt hungry yet (very surprising given my appetite). I plan on journaling this to help others. I’m 33 and 334lbs and it’s time for a change. I want to fast and use the weight loss to where I can work back out in the gym again. I wish you all the best of luck on transforming. Im just starting a Juice Fast starting on 2/1/2013 and I have decided to use the mean green Juice recipe like Joe used in the movie fatsickandnearlydead. I want to do it for at least 30 days and will consider doing the fast for 60 days to get down to my weight loss goal of 50 lbs. This is very new to me but my mom has been doing this kind of stuff for years. So I am going to start this on Friday of this week.
Is there a best order to put things through the shoot? I just ordered my juicer. (Bought the one Joe had in the boot of the car in the video.) Now to start shopping.
why aren’t there nutritional facts anywhere? I use a calorie count app and when i input Mean Green, it says it’s 368 calories! That is insane! Calories in/Calories out, how could I lose weight when I have no deficit?

Also, the 60 day fast, it is 12-16 oz 4 times a day, i thought? Some people are drinking double that…in the movie it was 12-16 4 times daily, correct?

I just want to says THANK YOU! I saw the documentary fat sick and nearly dead last year on Netflix with my husband. I had just had a baby and was breast feeding so I didn’t do the whole experience. My husband did it for 1 month because we are kinda low income and couldnt afford it for two months..the first month he lost 32 pounds. I just drank one juice a day of this mean green juice and I added more apples, carrots and grapes to my diet. After a week of eating and drinking this I became very ill and spent 4 days in bed with cramps. I spent day and night in the bathroom. I thought I was really catching something terrible! I was diagnosed in 2008 with gallstones and basically everything I ate upset my stomach to a certain extent anyways..if I turned a certain way I’d even get a sharp pain occasionally so I knew it had to either be a bug or my gallstones. I immediately stopped the green juice and just laid in bed for the rest of the week till my dr appointment. I was told if the pain with my gallstones become worse they would have to operate and take out my gallbladder. I figured this was it and I had irritated it maybe with all this healthy eating. The day of my doctor appointment I used the bathroom and noticed green pebbles and I just remember thinking I didn’t eat peas did I? Lol as it turns out they were gallstones! My dr of course said I just randomly passed them? She refused to check me to see if all my gallstones were gone. She said it wasn’t necessary? On a positive note I havent had any bathroom issues, cramping.. No more sharp pains.. We’ve been eating healthier now and juice when can afford to. I just wanted to say Thanks for this recipe and the information on healthy living…it really changed my life!

Hello everyone! I started my journey to renewed health 7 days ago with the Reboot, in the first 6 days I’m down 25lbs or as Phil likes to say down a bowling ball and a half. I have not weighed myself on this 7 day as I have decided to weight every 2 days instead of everyday. If I could share what made up my mind to do this, Joe had my interest from the start. It was seeing Phil that changed everything, you see when I saw Phil…I was looking at myself. It was at that point I decided to get healthy. It started this weighing in at 465, my goal is to reach 225. Thank you Joe, Phil and everyone else that made this documentary possible, it has changed my life and saved my life!

The movie really inspired me, especially the part with Phil. He was at the verge of bad things happening had he not gotten help from Joe. I ordered the juicer from Amazon and am excited to clean my act. I am hoping my wife will follow my example so we both can live to be 100…LOL!
First off, the documentary was the most inspirational thing I have ever seen. I teamed up when I saw Phil running and almost cheered for him. My wife laughed at me…lol. I started juicing this morning and I think it taste good (mean green). The energy I felt after that first glass and even now is amazing. Call me crazy but I feel better after just 2 meals.
I see a lot of questions on how much to drink; I can personally only drink 8-10oz per meal. I almost did not want to eat lunch because I was still satisfied from breakfast. I also drink water throughout the day and I feel stuffed…lol. I WANT to eat but I know that is the food addiction talking and clinging on for dear life. You shall not win addiction!

I am on my Day 2 juice diet. I just blend everything together and eat the fiber as well. I usually drink as least 2 big glasses each meal. Hope it will be as effective. I only my occasion snacks on nuts and small pasta won’t hurt … hehe
HI, just started this on monday…well the way i started was to get myself any my body ready for this so for the first 3 days i had my supper along with break fast and lunch as the juice..it was difficult for m eto go full on with jicing but starting thursday which is tomorow im going to go on it for 3 meals straight…i drink a lot of water alongw ith the juice as well i drink about 20oz (1 big tumbler) 3 times a day..i hope all this extra water is not going to hurt my body with water retention..just curious-hope someone has the answer to this..

I love this juice! When I don’t drink it for a few days my body craves it. I don’t like celery so I leave that out but otherwise it’s a great drink.
I saw the movie and my roommate and I were both inspired by this, I ordered my juicer on Amazon a week later and I started my juicing this morning!
OMG this juice was so delicious my 17month old little girl STOLE my juice and had a wobbly till I pored some into her sippy cup!!!!!! Can’t wait till my hubby gets home to try this one I’m sure it will get him hooked and as excited about juicing and a healthier life for our little family as I am thanks to Joe!!!!! How do you feel about doing the juicing but with the Nutra Bullet instead?
Heather, I have the Magic Bullet Juicer and the Omega J8005 juicer. In my experience, the Magic Bullet was just like my blender. The juicing screen worked mediocre at best. The centrifugal juicers work nice and quick, where the masticating juicer, like my Omega, work a little slower. I like the masticating juicers better, as it gets more juice out. Another plus to using a masticating juicer, is I can use it in the early morning hours, when everyone is asleep, and not make too much noise. The pulp is pretty dry. The magic bullet is a lot more time consuming, but will get you going!
It was better than expected
but I felt like, for me, it was missing something so I added a large carrot. then it was perfect. I wanted to be sure I liked it or I wouldn’t stick with it and just okay wasn’t enough for me. I was so motivated by the movie and I hope I can keep the motivation going.

Nah, not a powder…looks like a root one would dig up out of the backyard. Can be found in the produce section @ the grocery store.

I am allergic to carrots and celery. Is there something i could substitute the celery with?? I can only eat cooked celery, I react allergic to raw one. Should i add more from the other veggies or just take another veggie instead?

I just started my reboot yesterday and I like it so far. I weighted 112,5 kilos. I’m going to recover my shape and start building muscle after I do it for 10 or 20 days. I can’t be more than 100 kilos so I don’t hurt my joints running. It is great to be part of this community.

Sometimes people measure ginger in tbsp, oz, and piece size. Cut a piece of ginger root approximately the same size as a quarter and run it through juicer. Ginger is really strong so most recipes only ever call for a very small piece.

I added some cilantro to mine this morning and it was great. I also substituted some purple/green leafy vegetable for kale because we don’t have any kale out here.

Not sure what i did but i tend to HATE ginger in anything as well as cucumbers. Everything else i love but i thought all together i wouldn’t notice….negative tasted like grass. i tried this today but replaced the lemon w/a lime & think i put to much ginger in it.. it was horrible. the kale i use is chopped & has hard stems, am i doing it wrong?? I’am very discouraged, i am not giving up but don’t have the $ to keep experimenting, please help!! Ideas??
Use the ‘fluffy’ leaves from the kale…skip the thick stem maybe. Try with lemon. Use just a little nub of ginger. It’s strong! I often use 1/2 of what recipes call for. Try using recipes as a guide…not as law for ingredients maybe. Keep trying.

This works out (for me) for 1.5 servings . Not sure exactly how much it made to begin with. I drank what I wanted for my meal, then saved (ended up being 7oz left) the rest in a small mason jar and covered. It’ll stay in the frig overnight, I’ll finish it for breakfast.
Hoping it’ll yield closer to 2 servings for 32 ounces since my partner and I are both planning to juice. If not then the cost may prove too prohibitive. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow! Did you also check your pulp to see how wet/damp it was and rejuice if necessary as they suggest on here?

Hi all, my wife and I juice daily and for those nights where we would normally eat chips chocolate ect we have a juice, and we still eat a main meal everynight so our weight loss is gradual yet happening, I have lost 10 kg in 2 weeks, will cut out the main when the weight loss slows, but love this life style!!

My husband and I drink about 16-20 ounces for each meal. I get really hungry, but I don’t have weight to lose. He has some weight to lose and he doesn’t get hungry at all. I find it helps if you don’t drink it all right away, like I drink breakfast for an hour or two.

This is great and I’ve drank this stuff every morning so far, but I cut it by 2 celery stocks and 1 apple. Otherwise I find its way too much to drink and the celery is yucky. I don’t like celery at all but my body does!!! I use a whole lemon as well and as much kale as I can juice

Yes, I’ve read that you can keep it in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but they say to store it in an air tight glass jar. I use mason jars and bring that with me to work.
When it just says “apple” should that be granny smith or some kind of red? Does it make a difference in the taste depending on which type of apple you use?
I think its more the taste! I use granny smith. Its tart and yummy!

i am confused…i saw this nutricional info and it seems only 2.9g of protein but when i checked on faq joe in his video was saying that mean juice because of kale has around 8 or 9 grams of protein…
Having only just discovered this, I’m really keen to get started! However, kale is not sold where I live for the Mean Green juice. Is there anything that can be substituted for this? Or would it be ok to leave it out altogether?
Hi Nikki, Collard greens is a great substitute. I couldn’t make it to the supermarket that has kale and ended up going to the one closest to me. I was iffy with the collards at first but it was really good. I did this for the first day and a half, on day three now.
Mean green is good but too sweet so I took ot an apple and added an extra cucumber….much better
My husband, and I along with our 11 year old daughter are going to start this on Monday.. I just need to clear it for our daughter as she is on Kidney medicine.. Once we get the all clear, we are starting. She watched Joe’s video with me, and was the one to say “Let’s do this!”

I have kidney issues and my doc and naturopath both told me to watch out for raw spinach and kale due to the high oxalic acid content . This is hard on the kidneys, especially for kidney stones. I wanted to share this with you instead of your daughter having to suffer and learn the hard way. I truly believe juicing has helped my kidney function! How are you all doing now?

One of my favorite green juices so far…
I am currently 285 pounds and have a lot to lose. I was planning on doing the 10 day fast to start. I was thinking of then juicing for breakfast and lunch and having a small dinner (baked chicken usually) along with lots of exercise and LOTS of water.
Will that work as well (or close) to doing a 30 or 60 day fast? I am hoping to lose as much weight as possibly by October, though I want to make sure it is done the right way and not put me in any danger. I just don’t think I could do a full 30 or 60 day fast.

Just made my first “Mean Green” dear God it’s awful. I’m almost at 3 weeks and this is the first time I have made this, how do people drink it? I’m not going to waste it but I’m not making it again.
I am only on day 4 of my first reboot and I agree about the “mean green”. the second time I made it i added some cilantro and a pear and it seemed to cut the bitterness of the kale.
Day 38.. it is great that food combinations we didn’t originally enjoy (like this).. now taste so incredibly good… I almost can’t believe how much I like this now… This Reboot has our taste buds and systems ready for a much more healthy lifestyle… yum !!!
ok i’m new at this i bought alot veggie and fruits what juice do i make though which one is the one from the moive ? did he switch them up of was it the same juice consistently?
Would juicing be safe for children as well as a supplement. I was thinking of morning juice for breakfast and then as a side for lunch and dinner with lean protein. We already don’t eat processed foods and mostly avoid wheat due to my son’s intollerance. My kids are 8 and 5.

Hate the mean green juice. Tastes to green, however got around that. Added Mrs Dash table blend seasoning. Works great. No more over powering green taste

This might be a silly question but I make this green juice in the morning before work and store in it a bottle for 5 hours in the fridge so I can have it for lunch here at work. Am I losing nutritional value or missing out on healthy value of this drink by storing it for 5 hours?

I have a vitamix juicer/blender, is it okay to use? It is amazing, but it does not get rid of the veggie/fruit fibre, but pulverizes it all together. I want to start right away…

My husband & I have started juicing 2x a day and then eat a lite

First off, I thought I would hate this juice and it’s so good!! I used a whole lemon like some people mentioned and it turned out great. The only thing I’m a bit confused on is I use the 6 kale leaves, but it produced ZERO juice. I got a few drops and that was about it. Am I using the wrong kind of kale? The store had green or red, I got the green. Any suggestions?
Some types of juicers are better with leafy veg than others! Try pushing through some harder fruit or veg behind the kale.

I love the concept of juicing, but oh my, this mean green juice is hard to stomach! Sorry Joe, this recipe won’t win you a slot on Master Chef! I’m not giving up though, but will definitely look for juice recipes that incorporate more fruits.
