Simple Soothing Banana Face Mask

Bananas are a super source of usable healthy fuel for our bodies. They also contain gut-healthy properties as well as energizing vitamins like B6. But bananas aren’t just good to eat — they’re also great for our skin, since they contain vitamins A, C and E, which have  antioxidant properties. Vitamin C is a precursor for collagen (a key skin component).

One of my favorite things to do with bananas for the skin is to make a simple mask from a mashed banana along with some other key household items as well. The banana is hydrating and contains key vitamins that help to promote skin health, the honey is antibacterial and antiviral, and the oats are soothing — all together, these ingredients makes for a fantastic face mask.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1-2 Tbsp oats, either ground up or instant

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the banana, honey and oats with a fork.
  2. Once the mixture is well blended, apply to face and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes or until dry.
  3. Rinse face to remove the mask. Your skin will feel hydrated and happy! You can use this mask on a weekly basis.
