What inspired you to do a Reboot?
Memorial Day 2012; My son and I wanted to go on a ride at our local amusement park, no big deal right? As our turn was up and we embarked the carriage or gondola, and when it came time to secure the bar that goes across the midsection, I was shocked and surprised that it wouldn’t close. The young man, attending the ride, had to use extreme force to snap the bar into place. I am sure glad that he did, other than saying, “Sorry, sir you have exceeded the “rides may not accommodate larger guest” rule. I wish I had remembered his name, so I can thank him.
How did the experience go for you?
At first it was hard, but once I started losing weight, the desire fueled my commitment to push hard and believe in myself.
How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
To date, I’ve lost over 112 lbs/51 kg, but the majority of that was from June ’12 to Mar’ 13. I’ve maintained myself around 200 lbs. with a 5 lbs. fluctuation.
Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
I am in better shape now than when I was 16 years old, if that isn’t a notable improvement, I don’t know what is! I’ve lowered my cholesterol from 212 to 130, I have rid myself of sleep apnea and my back problems are GONE!!
What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
Changing your own mindset, learning and accepting that you can do anything.
What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
Even to this day, while in maintain mode, I still count my calories to ensure that I keep a constant daily intake of about 2,000 a day and exercise 3x a week.
What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
I will never, ever get back to being fat, sick and nearly dead!
