By: Claire Georgiou, Reboot Naturopath, B.HSc ND

When you combine healthy fruit with powerful superfoods, you have a nutrient-filled smoothie! Adding superfoods like maca root powder, chia seeds and turmeric is an easy way to up your intake of vitamins and minerals.

Papaya is an excellent nutrient dense fruit that contains specialised phyto-compounds and high antioxidant content. Papaya is a great source of proteolytic enzymes that are very important in the digestion of food. The most important of these proteolytic enzymes found in papaya is papain.

You can also add a vegan protein powder to this recipe if you want to increase the protein content. The Reboot with Joe Protein Powder is a combination of pea and rice protein, enhanced with zinc, biotin, and vitamin D3. One serving contains 16g protein, which is the equivalent of 2 eggs, 2 oz meat or fish, or 1 cup of beans or quinoa. It’s available for purchase.
