What’s Joe Cross Thankful For?

Eight years ago I sat in a paddock on the outskirts of Little Rock, AK and spoke into a camera lens about how lucky I was that I got sick. This ended up being the opening scene of Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. A lot has happened since then and there’s a lot to be thankful for. As we head into this special holiday, for those of you who celebrate it, I thought I would share, not all of the things I’m thankful for (because I did that last year), but this year I’m focusing on one thing, and that is that I don’t have to take medication every morning and every night like I did from 1998 – 2008.

Some of you will understand this, and others will probably not quite realize the pain, the suffering, the misery and helplessness that you feel when you have a chronic disease. Many doctors tell you they can’t cure it but they can give you something to help you manage it.

From a medical standpoint, I honestly can’t tell you with 100% certainty that my Reboot was the reason that I am now free of my illness, but from a personal level I’m fairly confident that it was. And because of that I’ve seen thousands of people experience similar life-changing results. I still shake my head with disbelief when I see the number of people who have been impacted by my story. It’s hard to express in words how thankful I am that I got sick and that I was somehow compelled to take action and be responsible for the state of my health. I’m thankful that I had the resources to be able to record and share this transformation on film.

And  I’m thankful that you watched it, shared it, and that you’re reading this now, which means you’re still part of this community. Whether it’s on facebook, Instagram, twitter or our community site, or when you tap me on the shoulder and say, “Has anyone told you look and sound like that guy in the juicing movie?” and I say, “Yep, that’s me.” And I get to hear the amazing stories firsthand of the impact and changes it’s had in your lives. I love it when they pull out the before photos on their phones.

So to summarize, I guess it comes down to being thankful for you.

I hope you know that my team and myself are working hard every day to help bring you content that will inspire, educate and entertain you to help you make positive changes in your life.
