Smart Sweet: Vegan Hot Chocolate

We were busy in the Reboot Kitchen this week whipping up our own homemade almond milk and vegan chocolate sauce. Both are separately wonderful but the light bulb went off in our heads today and we thought… hey let’s combine them so we can warm up to a vegan hot chocolate before this lovely blizzard hits! Oh, and we did. And it was amazing.
Ingredients:
4 cups of homemade almond milkĀ (store bought is fine, too)
1/2 cup cacao chocolate sauce (start with a 1/2 cup but add more if you like it extra chocolately)
Step 1: Add the almond milk to a large pot and start to warm it on the stove, about 10 minutes. Stir often to make sure it doesn’t burn.

Step 2: Once milk is warm, add the chocolate sauce.

Step 3: Continue to stir until the chocolate is evenly mixed in the almond milk.

Step 4: Pour into small mug, sprinkle cacao powder on the top and serve with our favorite Raw Chocolate Chip Cookies. (It is very rich so a little goes a long way!)

Step 5: Enjoy!

Why are you using a highly processed sweetener such as agave? Agave is not a good choice if you’re 1. trying to ensure people make the right health chices 2. attempting to promote fresh foods and getting off sugar. It’s crazy.

Use raw agave. Just because it says that it is organic does not mean that it is raw. If processed it is no better than sugar. However, raw is good.
