Name: Kathy and Jack C.
Location: Mansfield, TX
Reboot: 30 Day Reboot (Then for 90 days we had a routine: juice only for 5 days, then eat plant-based for 2 days, repeat.)
How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
Our kids pushed us to watch FSND, so we did and never looked back.
What inspired you to do a Reboot?
We were both way over weight, and I (Kathy) had found out I had a pituitary tumor that was large and I was hoping to stop or slow its growth somehow. Plus the doctor said I was too fat and needed to lose weight for when they operated to remove it someday.
How did the experience go for you?
Excellent!! It was easy because we felt better and the weight fell off. We both started in November of last year and did it through the holidays. Started off doing 10 days, then ate Thanksgiving holiday meals, then went back on until Christmas and then from there did juice-only on weekdays and ate plant based on weekends.
Kathy is pure plant-based and Jack partakes in fish weekly and beef monthly.
How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
Both of us have lost a bit over 70 lb/31.7 kg (Kathy: 5’ 5”, Was 235 lb/106.5 kg–> Now 164 lb/74.3 kg now, Jack: 6’0 Was 280 lb/127 kg –> Now 210 lb/95.3 kg), and have about 15lbs more to go for each to reach our goals. Kathy runs and Jack walk/runs 3.12 miles 4 times a week and have taken up golf again (play at least 4 times a week). Kathy has taken her passion for fattening cooking (entered and won some contests) to making the best tasting food utilizing plant-based recipes from various sites.
Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
Jack had high blood pressure and is now off of one medication and tapering off the other.
Kathy’s cholesterol is normal now.
Both are a size their children had never known (ages 30 to 17), we are kids ourselves again!!
Kathy will be 50 in October, and is healthier and happier than she was in her late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Like many, she wishes she had known about this way of life a long time ago, she feels so much of her life was wasted being fat and miserable and always on a diet….but now she is going to make the most of her next half century!!! (Yes, she plans on living to 100 because she knows eating and living this way will make that happen.)
What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The first 3 days were bad, but then it was easy. Being food addicts, abstaining from eating was easier than trying to cut back on food.
What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
Once the Reboot rebooted our brains (literally) we both craved veggies and healthy foods. We were cured of the old way of eating, and diet is no longer in our vocabulary.
We eat to live now, not the other way around.
What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
It was the best thing that ever happened to us, and we are evangelists to all our colleagues and family. The results speak for themselves, and many have asked our secret, and we share. We have a lot of folks doing this now.
