High Blood Pressure, Obesity

How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I was sitting on the couch watching one of my favorite TV show’s, Diners Drive in’s & Dives, and then Fat, Sick & Nearly dead started playing right afterwards. At first the funny animations caught my attention and then I really got into it.

What inspired you to do a Reboot?
There were so many points in that movie in which I could relate to. I knew I had to change my lifestyle but was not sure how to go about it. Watching Joe at first was very informative and I realized the fruits and veggies I had grown to hate were the fuel my body needed.

But I wasn’t quite sold till we got to meet Phil and hear his story. There was a point in the movie where he said he would scare the begezesus out of people when walking up behind them, because they saw this rather larger angry man, he said I’m not angry I’m just in pain. That really struck a chord with me for me that meant more than just physical pain.

After that point I was hooked and I was cheering him on, I even remember at one point thinking did Joe hire a make-up team for filming because Phil went from pale white to having such a healthy glow. By the end of the movie I knew I had to Reboot and it really did change my life.

How did the experience go for you?
The first few days were rough, but after day 3, I had a sense of wellness that I never felt before. By day 7 I was superman. Normally I would work, come home, and crash; but now I get home and have tons of energy.

I started to be able to differentiate between hunger and craving. After a long day where I forgot to drink I started feeling dizzy. I was no longer hungry but needed to remind myself to drink the juice. Then there were the occasional cravings during parties or outings with friends, but I wasn’t hungry, I was just craving and I would tell myself there was no way I could cheat now! How else would I lose weight this fast and did I really want to go thru days 1-3 again. Yeah, that really helped the motivation!

There were of course questions. Lots of them. Everyone wanted to know what I was doing. I would inform the positive ones and ignore the negative.

By the end of the Reboot I had no doubt that I had rebooted my life, my brain, and my stomach, which was a lot smaller after getting to shrink for 2 months. I only ate half an apple before I was ok (not full just ok).

Afterwards I wanted to come here and post my photos right away but decided to wait to see if the results would stick.

How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
I had lost a total of 56 lbs/25 kg in 60 days, it was amazing. I continued to drop another 10 lbs/4.5 kg over the next few months only eating mostly a raw food diet. Whatever used to go in the juicer during my Reboot, I would just eat. Then I joined the gym and started working out.

Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, acne and oily skin. I would suffer greatly from seasonal depression and I couldn’t tie my shoes because my stomach would shove into my lungs forcing me to exhale just to reach them.

None of these issue remain.

What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
During: It was getting used to the lifestyle change; what to do during break and lunch while everyone was eating started to seem like a waste of time. I would remember rushing to get to the food truck and back inhaling my snack/lunch.

After: freezing my now skinny but off! I used to go out in -20 in a t-shirt now I’m cold all the time.

What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
In terms of the juice fast, just eating healthy and juicing. I still make my juice now as a supplement rather than a meal and have 5-6 salad meals a week, and more fruits and vegetables. What the Reboot has inspired me to do was take a serious look at my life. I now realise that by changing what I eat and exercising, my health improves and I’ve never felt better. The Reboot showed me what I was doing wrong and quickly showed me how I should be feeling if I just do things right.

What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
That I’m glad I happened upon the movie. The success that I achieved in my Reboot has influenced so many factors of my life. It’s not just the weight but I started caring about myself again. The best lasting impression is the happy guy staring back at me in the mirror.
