Papaya Powered Smoothie

When you combine healthy fruit with powerful superfoods, you have a nutrient-filled smoothie! Adding superfoods like maca root powder, chia seeds and turmeric is an easy way to up your intake of vitamins and minerals.

Papaya is an excellent nutrient dense fruit that contains specialised phyto-compounds and high antioxidant content. Papaya is a great source of proteolytic enzymes that are very important in the digestion of food. The most important of these proteolytic enzymes found in papaya is papain.

You can also add a vegan protein powder to this recipe if you want to increase the protein content. The Reboot with Joe Protein Powder is a combination of pea and rice protein, enhanced with zinc, biotin, and vitamin D3. Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped papaya (frozen or fresh)
  • ½ banana
  • 1 cup (250 ml) coconut water
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp chia seeds (white or black)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (or ½ tsp fresh, finely grated)
  • 1 tsp maca root powder (optional)
  • 1 handful of ice

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients into the blender.
  2. Blend & Enjoy!

Note: The photo contains paw paw rather than papaya which is a larger more yellow fruit. Papaya is smaller and is shaped more like an avocado and has a more orange red tone.
