Refresh Your Workout (A Juice Recipe!)

This mighty juice has a zesty yet refreshing flavor and is packed with easy-to-find ingredients that you may already have in your refrigerator, or even in your garden. I used this juice as a post-run nutrient-packed recovery juice this weekend. Although it’s getting chillier up here in the northeast, a good workout will still give you a good sweat and that means lost electrolytes.
I’m often asked by private clients and Rebooters what’s my favorite reason to juice. My answer is besides drinking juice for immediate nutrients, I also love to use it for pre- or post-workout recovery. Juices, like this one with the primary color as red, orange or yellow, provides a ton of electrolytes like natural sodium and potassium that your body can use to replenish those lost with sweat. Additionally, bright and colorful juices are loaded with antioxidants that help your body repair the naturally-occurring damage done through exercise.

Why this juice is so great:

Mint: loaded with digestive and energizing properties, and contains compounds that may help to alleviate congestion
Ginger: loaded with digestive and immune-boosting properties and powerful antioxidants thanks to a compound called gingerol
Carrots: offer beta carotene that acts as an antioxidant along with vitamin C and contains a good source of potassium
Broccoli: contains bone-healthy calcium in addition to a compound of antioxidants called isothiocyantes, and anti-inflammatory properties thanks to the nutrient kaempferol that may help to mediate allergic reactions in our bodies
Orange Bell Pepper: good source of antioxidant vitamin C and potassium that also acts as an electrolyte in the body and helps to promote healthful blood pressure

You can mix up this juice by add or swapping in beets for carrots, and bell peppers come in many beautiful colors that offer tons of nutrients and can be swapped in for variety.
