Our community member Timothy K. submitted a recipe that brought a new spin to the Mean Green Juice. He was inspired to make the Mean Green Hulk to super charge his body with high vibrational veggies and vitamins. They always say you are what you eat, but Timothy wants to change perspective to…you are what you drink!
Ingredients:
2 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 zucchini
6 kale Leaves
6 spinach leaves
1 lemon
2 Tbsp. ginger
Directions:
1.) Wash all produce.
2.) Cut desired ginger and peel lemon.
3.) Turn on your juicer and juice it up!

I love the idea for a Mean Green spin since I tend this particular juice almost every day. One question, though; what is the taste of zucchini like? I have to admit, I`ve never been bold enough to try it in a juice..
I guess is time to give it a go.!

zucchini is actually one of the “magic 5″ vegetables that when you mix with fruit and other things the vegetable taste disappears! the other 4 are red or green cabbage, carrots, yellow squash and spinach. So go for adding it in! You’ll get the nutrition without changing getting any strange vegetable flavors!
The taste of zucchini does not stand out at all in a mixed juice. Same as eggplants.

I do something similar, use original mean green, then add in one handful of spinach and two carrots, then add equal amount to the spinach and carrots of your choice of fruit: I love pineapple, strawberry, or berries.
This is my favorite recipe, and as long as you change up the fruit, I don’t get bored. Enjoy!
I love this! I have been juicing my lemons whole and using half instead of a whole one. It masks the taste of the celery (which I find overwhelming otherwise). Any thoughts on this?
If any of you know any reason I shouldn’t be doing this (as in, it’s potentially dangerous, like raw rhubarb or apple seeds), please let me know b/c I feel good about getting the extra nutrition from the pith and rind and getting more flavor using less, but I don’t want to do anything that would be bad for us.
Sweetpea, you’re fine using the whole thing. I do it too. There are a lot of recipes that call for grated lemon peel. It’s not harmful at all.

I make this juice almost daily. Have not tried zucchini yet as they are not in season here. Usually also add parsley and mint. Highly reccommend .
ive juiced for 10 days and gained half a pound… i just wanna quit

But how do you feel overall? Is your energy level up, etc. What juices are you doing? Heres a couple of mine that works for me.. drink 16-20oz juice 4-6 times a day plus about 50-60oz water as well
Energy breakfast – makes 16-20oz
1 peeled kiwi, 6 strawberry, i peeled orange, 1/2 peeled mango, 1 cup pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup coconut water
Juice SNACK- 6 carrots, 1 peeled cucumber, 2 cored apples, 1 inch ginger, 1/2 cup mint, 1/2 peeled lime makes 16-20oz
LUNCH DINNER – 8 kale leaves, 2 cucumber, 8 celery stalks, 4 green apples, 1 peeled lemon, 1 inch ginger- makes 36-40 oz….Hang in there! Keep juicing!
Ness – are you using too much fruit? These are high in sugar, so if possible, cut down the fruit and increase the veggies
Great combos, but I never core my apples before juicing them. Just cut them into chunks.
I use organic produce as much as possible. My experience has been that organic apples frequently have little critters making apples their home, via the stem or the calyx (flower end).
The idea of a a bug or worm getting juiced turns me off. So I always core my apples. It takes only a second with an apple corer.
Of course, if you like the extra protein, go for it!
This sounds pretty good. I’ve not tried any squash yet. I started a juice fast and my first few drinks were not very good so I decided to stick a little closer to the recipes until I got the hang of it. To my surprise after just 6 days I lost 13.6 lbs. I have noticed that if I drink more fruit than veggies I don’t loose much if any so my goal is to stick with mostly veggies and fruit for breakfast.
Is the any limits of juice you can drink during the day if you on juice only diet? Thanks

I’m honored to find that one of my recipes was used for this is adaption of the mean green made famous in Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead movie. One reason I named it the “Mean Green Hulk” is that this archetype resonate with me and my inner struggle for complete zen over mind & emotions.
I’m far from saint and I battle angry just as next, but mainly behind close doors, I’m sure there so many of us can relate to wanting to release the rage within us, something The Hulk is all to well known for that…

Keep in mind that fruits contain sugar / carbs which may cause you to gain weight. Im going with mostly vegetables and just a little fruit to sweeten the taste. I have been following the Atkins low carb diet for 4 weeks and lost 6lbs, but its tough to follow as I have a hard time eating enough greens every day, just get sick of trying to stuff my face with bland green veggies ! So today i bought a juicer and made 2 litres of delicious juice made mostly from vegetables.
Drinking them works better for me than eating them.

Any ideas on how to modify this for those of us with gastritis and ulcers? lemons/limes and citrus need to be elminated…
@Caroline Easy, just omit the lemon for your special diet/ health… for its only included to give hulk some extra zests

When it says “2 tsp of ginger” is that referring to the dry spice? Sorry I’m confused.

I was surprised to find that most nutritional info states this recipe has over 400 cals .I use the recipe without apple.. how is there this many cals in this?
