June Group Reboot – Day 4: Transition!

Day 4 is here! And that means you’re almost there! Well done, Rebooters!

For those of you who don’t know me yet, My name is Jamin and I’ve been on the Reboot Team since day 1! I am proud to have been a member of the “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” production team and love that I have the opportunity to continue to work with the incredible Reboot community!

I’ve done several Reboots, including this one! So feel free to ask questions, share comments – I’d love to hear from you!

This time around, I decided to do the “Plus Dinner” Reboot. I made this choice primarily because I’m training for a half-marathon and I thought the extra energy (aka calories!) from an evening meal would help fuel a couple of morning runs! I’m actually really enjoying the “Plus Dinner” Reboot, I haven’t been overly hungry; I’ve had the extra energy I was looking for; and it’s done a great job retraining my focus on Fruits and Veggies! I feel motivated to stick with plant-based foods moving forward, where I’ll admit, I had backslid into some not-so-great patterns… (Oh, sweet potato fries)!

If you’re anything like me, while on a Reboot, you’re thinking alot about what you can carry forward into ‘daily life’. What habits or patterns are you picking up that will contribute to being the healthiest (and happiest) you? This leads into a really important subject, perhaps as important as the act of Rebooting itself: the TRANSITION back to ‘normal’ or ‘the new normal’!

After these 5 days, some of you may decide to extend your Reboot for longer, and others may be ready to return to ‘normal’. Here are some helpful tips and guidelines for you as you get ready to wrap up the Reboot and transition back to the day-to-day.

Be prepared to avoid processed “junk” foods including fast food, packaged foods, high fat foods this first week and frankly the longer you can limit them in your diet, the better you will feel.

Start slow! Soups, smoothies and salads are great transition foods after completing a Reboot. These will give your body healthy foods in a variety of forms to retrain your digestive system for handling a regular, yet healthy diet.

Don’t forget the Juice! Just because you’re not officially on a Reboot, doesn’t mean fresh vegetable juice is any less beneficial. Set a goal to drink at least one fresh juice daily.

Eat smaller amounts more often. This will be essential to retraining your digestive system to process complex combinations of foods. Eating just enough to nourish yourself without going beyond what is comfortable is at the heart of being gentle to your body.
