What Health Issues apply to you?
High Blood Pressure, Obesity
Did you Reboot to lose weight?
How did you learn about Reboot with Joe?
I learned of it by watching “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.”
What inspired you to do a Reboot?
I had lost significant amounts of weight a few times before. About a year before this Reboot I had a bad bout of herniated disc pain which had me in such severe pain that I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom at times. The recovery was long and tough. After months of injections, therapy, all sorts of prescription pain medicine, I started to get better. Then I developed plantar fasciitis which caused me so much foot pain I couldn’t do anything. Even when I felt okay enough to work out, I was very limited due to my back issues.
I felt discouraged. I love food. Without working out I would never be able to lose weight again! As a PhD student, I’m under a lot of constant stress. All of these factors caused the perfect storm which led to gaining weight. I would successfully lose a few pounds here or there, and then have one “cheat meal” and beat myself up about it and throw it all away. Then I watched “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” and my life changed. I was filled with hope. I did more research, watched more food documentaries and shared my knowledge with all my loved ones. My parents got really excited about it too, and we all decided to start a Reboot! We got a juicer for Christmas and started in January. It was the perfect jump-start to my weight loss!
How did the experience go for you?
The experience was overall good. I’m not going to lie, it was rough at first. Day two was the worst. I had headaches, I felt sluggish and I was starving. I got through it somehow, and after that it was smooth sailing. There were a few social events that were tricky, but with some planning it’s easy to do pretty much anything!
How much weight did you lose (even if that wasn’t your goal!)?
20 pounds (10 kg)
Did you have any notable health or physical improvements?
My plantar fasciitis went away in 3 days. It was amazing, I couldn’t believe it. I also felt energized without any coffee, and my skin looks healthier!
What was the toughest part about the Reboot experience?
The toughest part is definitely having a social life. I was lucky that I had my parents to do it with. But spending any time with anyone who wasn’t doing it, especially during meal times, was very hard.
What habits have you maintained and kept a part of your everyday life?
I’ve significantly cut down on meat/chicken/seafood intake to approximately once a week. I also drink at least one juice per day, and I still drink the ginger lemon water at wake up and the herbal tea at bedtime.
What is your Lasting Impression of the Reboot experience?
It was life changing! I recommend it to everyone, with any health issues at all. I’ve already converted my roommate! I’ve become “that girl” who talks about health stuff at parties.
