Hearts of Gold Smoothie

If you’re looking for a wonderful treat this weekend, consider making this delicious smoothie. It’s slightly sweet with a hint of chocolate and a satisfying crunch. This smoothie blends a fantastic mixture of nutrient-rich ingredients featuring raw cacao that’s packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties (it’s not the chocolate you’re used to seeing at the checkout line in the grocery store!). You’ll also be drinking in a complete source of plant-based protein from the hemp hearts and healthy anti-inflammatory fats thanks to the almond butter. To add some slight sweetness, I used frozen mango that also boasts immune-boosting vitamins A and C.

Ingredients

  •
1 ½ cups (375 ml) almond milk
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh or frozen mango
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  •
1 tbsp hemp hearts or seeds
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2 handfuls of spinach

Directions

  1. Wash all produce well.
  2. Add ingredients to blender and blend on high for 45-60 seconds until smooth.
  3. Serve and enjoy.
