I decided to watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead looking for help and ideas to improve my health.
What inspired you to Reboot?
I gained 30 pounds last winter, and when I saw FSND I knew I had to give it a try.
How did the experience go for you?
It was so much easier than I could have imagined! The key for me was to consume variety of juices. I’d always been keen on cooking, but I had very little experience using greens and veggies. In addition to the weight loss and other health benefits, learning to use dark greens and other veggies in my daily meals was invaluable. I had NEVER used kale before the fasts. And I actually focused on chewing everything I juiced. I was never a salad eater, so discovering juicing opened up a whole new world!
What was the toughest part?
Gaining access to a variety of produce. I live at 7,600+ft above sea level where we have one Safeway store with limited selection, and things like basil sell out fast! Also, the speed which things started to rot is pretty fast up here. Buy an Avocado yesterday, and you better use it today or it’s gone!
What habits have you maintained and kept as part of your everyday life?
I now juice regularly. I’m much more aware of what I eat, so I avoid sugar, fried foods etc. My portions are smaller, and I now consume more plant matter than anything else.
What is your lasting impression of the Reboot experience?
It changed my life, and if you are willing, it can change yours, too. It was THE EASIEST thing I have ever done for my health.
The mindset of “I’m not eating anything” can defeat people. I kept in mind that I was eating constantly, I just wasn’t chewing.

Patricia, ANYONE can do this. Just allow yourself to do it. My first goal was to TRY 10 days. I made it past the detox days, and by day 7, I knew I could do 30. By day 30, I wanted to go longer. Took 2 months “off”, and did another 30 right out the gate.
Friday, I juiced all day just because I wanted to. I often juice instead of chewing a meal. It’s now a choice in my meal repertoire.
I’m going to do 10 days directly after Xmas. Not because I’m going to binge eat for the holidays… I know better now. I’m doing it because I’m dog sitting for 10 days, and just buying plant matter to juice at a clients home will be easier than preparing cooked meals with all my spices and stuff.

I kept my goals small and attainable, and it lead me to doing so much more.
I like the part..I’m eating constantly…I just wasn’t chewing. I made it four days. I wasn’t hungry I just missed chewing. Ha ha. I am going to prepare better and try again. Very cert encouraging.

Deanna thank you for sharing. Your story is encouraging….. I just started a week ago but I eased into it. I started one juice per day for two days then two and now I’m juicing three meals. I feel great all day and don’t really miss the food until night comes ….I’m hungry…. Can you juice 4 times a day to compensate ?

Your story is inspirational. My juicer just came in the mail yesterday and on Monday, my hubby and I are starting our “reboot.” I have 25lbs I need to lose, and he has 50lbs to lose, and more importantly, we BOTH need to start living healthy. I’m 32, and he’s 37 and we are exhausted all of the time, in spite of drinking vast quantities of coffe and energy drinks all day. We are SO done with all that!
I see many mentions of the 30day plan, but it is not listed here on the site. I was wondering if you could direct me to where you found your plan,or did you create it yourself out of two 15day plans etc? Hello Angelina,
I had the same question about the menus and time frames. It’s been explained to me by several people. You will want to do the 15 day plan and the 5 day Juice period extend as long as you need/want until you get the results you want then finish with the last 5 day plan on the 15 day plan. They have you adjusting to a plant based diet before you jump right into just juicing. There are a lot of great recipes on this site and if you google Reboot recipes you’ll find some others from people who’ve done the program too.

I would also like to know more about how to get started, but I would also like to know how you knew what to eat to keep your diet balanced. I noticed in the documentary, they were going to the doctor weekly, but they never said how much of what to eat to keep your body healthy. Do you happen to know?

I want a breville juicer but have inhibitions. I am 175 cms tall but my weight is 270 lbs.. Just got to know that I have a BMI of 50. And I’m degydrated. What to do? How to start juice reboot? I m confused.
