In the Reboot Kitchen: Green Monkey Peanut Butter Smoothie

I absolutely love this smoothie. It’s become one of my go-to’s for breakfast but I’ve also found myself making it for me and my roommates as a healthy dessert! It’s packed with healthy proteins and nutritious greens, and it tastes like candy (a Reese’s Pieces to be exact). I always add as many greens as possible to pump up the nutrients and it never takes away from the delicious peanut butter flavor.

Seasonal: Spaghetti Squash with Avocado “Cream” & Cashew “Cheeze” Sauce

The other night I was in the mood for spaghetti and alfredo sauce. I know, not good! Realizing that would be highly caloric with zero nutrients, I decided to come up with something just as satisfying but loaded with nutrients, healthy fats, and fiber. In comes Spaghetti Squash with Avocado “Cream” and Cashew “Cheeze” Sauce.

Freshmade NYC’s After School Snacks of the Week

With all this cold and blustery weather we are having, we decided to focus on “warming” foods this week.  Did you know that eating certain foods can help keep your body warm?  Check out some of our favorite “warming” foods and snacks that incorporate them!

After School Snack: Sunflower-Goji Cookies

Your kids (and you!) will love these cookies loaded with sunflower seeds and high in vitamin E to help them resist the flu and upper respiratory infections by supporting the immune system.

After School Snack: Warming “Milk” Shake

Instead of hot chocolate, let your kids warm up to this warming “milk” shake when they are finished playing in the snow. The cardamom in this shake is refreshing to the mind and the body and also for treating respiratory infections such as cough and cold. It’s great for digestion and keeps the body warm.

In the Reboot Kitchen: Green Pineapple Smoothie

A power-house of electrolytes and other nutrients, this smoothie is loaded with potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C and iron. Pineapple contains a wonderful anti-inflammatory nutrient called bromelain which may reduce inflammation, pain and also aid digestion of proteins.

Meatless Monday: Garlic Cauliflower Mash

Looking for a comfort food that won’t leave you feeling heavy and full of regret? Mashed cauliflower is a great substitute for mashed potatoes that’s lighter in calories, carbohydrates and full of detox promoting phytonutrients.

Smart Sweet: The Best Granola Bar in the World

I recently purchased a dehydrator because I fell in love with kale and zucchini chips (stay tuned for the Zucchini recipe) and wanted to make them myself. But, if I was going to allow this behemoth (dehydrators are not small, people!) take up the valuable real estate of my NYC-sized counter top, then I needed to find more uses for it. Hello Granola Bars.

Community Recipe: Pomegranate Smoothie

One of our 15 Day Guided Reboot participants,Greg, got creative in the kitchen and decided to combine pomegranates with avocado and other fresh produce that resulted in a refreshing, delightful smoothie. Thanks for sharing Greg!

Freshmade NYC’s After School Snacks of the Week

Freshmade NYC warmed the kids’ bellies this week with delicious muffins packed with their favorite orange veggies (carrots and butternut squash) and topped them with a mouthwatering coconut whipped cream. They finished their afternoon by washing the muffins down with a super smoothie. Check out the recipes.
