C Is For Creating A Perfect Salad

Spring is almost here and what better way to celebrate than with a delicious and nutritious salad? Here’s some tips for getting the most out of your meal:

Combine: Why stick to one kind lettuce when there are so many incredible greens to choose from? Try combining a milder/lighter lettuce or green like Boston, Bibb, or endive, with a crisp lettuce or green like romaine, and a peppery/sharper tasting green like arugula or radicchio.

Color: Make a game of seeing how many colors of the rainbow you can fit into one salad! Try red, yellow, or green peppers, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, and fruits like blueberries, raspberries, apples, and tangerines

Crunch: Add veggies like jicama, celery, or asparagus. After your Reboot you can also add sunflower or pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and toasted almonds for more pep in every bite!

Clean: Avoid preservatives, trans-fats, and sugars by making your own salad dressing. The basic rule to keep in mind is to add a healthy fat (like olive oil or flaxseed oil) with an acid (like lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, or low-sodium soy sauce). Then choose from delicious foods like garlic, ginger, carrots, and avocado to make countless combinations!

Commit: Try adding avocado or dried fruits for long lasting energy. After your Reboot you can also add quinoa, tofu, sprouts, garbanzo beans, or kidney beans if you are looking for a salad that will keep you satisfied for hours!
