Brandon Takes Cue from Dad; Tries a Reboot, Loses 50 lbs.

Name: Brandon B.
Age: 29
Location: Atlanta, GA
Reboot: 60-day Juice Fast
Total Weight Loss: 50lbs (started: 240lbs, finished: 190lbs)

HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT REBOOT YOUR LIFE?
The Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead Facebook page!
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO A REBOOT?
My father, Dan, watched the movie Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead and decided to try a juice fast himself (which was successful… he did a 60-day juice fast and lost 60lbs! He started at 306lbs and finished at 246lbs!). He suggested I watch the movie, and I was very inspired. So I’d say I was inspired by my dad, and by Joe and Phil from the movie.

HOW DID THE EXPERIENCE GO FOR YOU?
As a whole, it was awesome! Really the only bad part for me was the first week, as is the case I think with most people. Once I got past that first week, it became pretty routine.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NOTABLE HEALTH OR PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS?
I definitely noticed how much better I slept at night and I felt like my energy level was a lot higher. In general, I just felt better than I had in at least ten years (and still do!). My gut shrank! I’ve had to buy a new wardrobe because I’m now fitting in clothes that I haven’t worn since high school, which is amazing! With all of these things comes a boost in confidence, as well.

WHAT WAS THE TOUGHEST PART OF THE REBOOT?
There were a couple things that were tough throughout the process. One thing was the social aspect of it. I missed going out to the weekly family Mexican dinner night and enjoying some margaritas with the family. I missed hanging out with friends, watching the ball game at the bar. But what I haven’t missed is the hangovers the next morning!
Another tough part, like I mentioned before, was the first week. I was hungry a lot that week, so I was drinking a lot of water to try and curb my appetite. I just kept telling myself that it would get better and I just pushed through it. After about five or six days, it did get better.
The final tough thing for me was the Reboot coming to an end. I was very anxious. Nervous excitement. Excited because I was going to be able to eat real food again, but nervous because I didn’t want to screw up all the success that I had by blowing it and falling into my old ways. My new goals have become to maintain a steady workout routine and to make smarter decisions when it comes to eating.

WHAT HABITS HAVE YOU MAINTAINED AND KEPT AS PART OF YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
I’ve become a lot more active and am trying to maintain a steady workout routine. I’ve also become a lot more health conscious as far as what I’m eating everyday. Before I never worked out at all, I hadn’t worked out in at least ten years. My eating habits were horrible. I was a huge fast food junkie, and was always staying up late watching TV and finding something to munch on. I’ve cut back on soft drinks and drink more water now.

WHAT IS YOUR LASTING IMPRESSION OF THE REBOOT?

I am so glad that I gave this Reboot a shot. I have absolutely no regrets from doing it. I feel great. I’ve put on a couple pounds since starting to eat real food again, but I’m maintaining it, working out, and eating right. I’m at a healthy weight for someone my height (6’1″). I never pushed this program on anyone, I just blogged about my experience as it was happening and I was amazed at the amount of feedback I got from people that wanted to give it a shot as well. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking to improve their quality of life!
