3-Ingredient Kid-Friendly Juice

September is National Childhood Obesity Prevention Month, so this week’s recipe is a simple 3-ingredient juice for everyone in your family to enjoy. When it comes to making fresh juices for the entire family, it’s important to be mindful of the portion size, which is 6-8 oz for a child as opposed to an adult that may be 16-20 oz. It’s also important to remember to add a moderate portion of juice in addition to a meal as opposed to using the juice to replace a meal– remember children are growing and need adequate calories, protein and nutrients!
This easy to make juice contains a source of beta-carotene from the carrots that acts as an antioxidant to combat cellular damage in the body and can also help to promote eye health. This juice also contains a good source of immune-boosting vitamin C from the lemon and the carrots that can help to combat the back-to-school cold.

To mix it up you can swap the lemon for a lime and also swap the cucumber for celery for a good source of natural electrolytes.

Ingredients

  • 4 carrots
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 lemon

Directions

1. Wash all ingredients.

2. Remove the tops of the carrots (optional), peel lemon (optional) and cut produce to fit through juicer.

3. Add produce through the juicer and enjoy!
